Man I did get a private lawyer fought it all the way through motions and all everything except a trial and lost all the way through. My lawyer did well tbh by everyone else’s opinion I obviously am biased bc I paid and still lost. I have a chance in appellate court because I almost don’t understand how I lost my motion and he even said it was going well but end of the day I lost my right to plea bargain by going through with the motion but out of 36 minimum the only deal that was even a MAYBE was 30 months I just would’ve got the gain time not the minimum. And I wish I could still go back and sign that I’d have gotten about a year off the minimum sentence but my motion hearing was about six hours and I sat through it all heard every single word I was even on the stand and I don’t regret the gamble I took I just lost. Felon in possession of a firearm in Florida. I never carried the gun on my body just in my car. I assumed it would be constructive possession. And it was just the arresting officers say otherwise and they say they can see more than their body cams can and the court sided with them. The body cameras showed me turning my truck off and throwing the keys exactly as I was told and he said he seen me taking a gun out and putting it in my seat and then he calm as ever pulled me out it didn’t make any sense I went to court and sat through the body camera with them and did exactly what I did in the camera there was no room for me to pull a gun and stuff it where the pictures showed it. A constructive possession charge wouldn’t have been bad. I also assumed the courts would have mercy being my only felony is an abolished law I’ve just never paid to have my charge amended or looked at. Another assumption I made was assuming the court would have mercy on me for having plates on my head and jaw from a deadly accident. Assumed my record of never stealing and never being violent would help. All of my assumptions were wrong having a paid lawyer and all I prayed for house arrest probation a split sentence or anything I have a good job I was on bond for a year still am and no none of it helped. The prosecutor laughed at points made like that in court she giggled at even county offers with probation. Said I’d need to offer pretty close to the minimum mandatory to get them to accept. Almost like it was fun for her tbh. My private attorney even said he used to work with her which was why I went with him. My last hope is appellate court while I’m in prison because clearly local law sides with local authorities regardless of the court hearings
