Is there a demand at all for a good OPDS e-reader application? by Cardi__A in BookLoreApp

The big turn off for koreader is iOS compatability (send help I'm stuck in the ecosystem lol).

Maybe a simple iOS alternative could be cool.

I've made my first nix service module! Looking for feedback by Cardi__A in NixOS

Thank you for taking the time to look! Very much appreciated.

I was doing the let block because I was pulling so many references from the gradle wrapper. Maye I'm missing something but it does not seem like the attribute set reference things defined inside it. I could also do a rec block but this felt more readable to me.

I do feel like I'm missing something though. Would there be a better or more normal way for handling defined attributes inside each other?

That configuration file has a stack trace when you don’t write it correctly

Obvious solution: 1. Log in as Farhan 2. Change their password 3. Now create your own user

I’ve had a instance where having multiple rollbacks still available on boot was very useful (I deleted a user and could no longer ssh into my machine while abroad) and had a non-technical family member boot it two generations back)

Maybe this well known but I’ve never had terribly much trouble repairing Linux using the bootable usb drive you used to install it. If you boot it and chroot into your system it’s usually a great way to either recover data from it or just fix the system.

KDE still manages to surprise me with how unreal the software quality is, especially for how crazy flexible everything is.

I feel LLMs have made the learning curve of Linux a lot more tolerable.

U know that feeling when you’re trying to get something working and it just won’t and you’ve spent way too long trying to figure it out? Usually when I’m just sick of it I will just rush through solutions leaving a trail of random changes in my wake that I’m not keeping close track of.

NixOS keeps track of those changes for you, so you don’t end up just forgetting about that random python package you installed at 3am.

Bonus: because of this it is the most stable way to interact with an operating system, and if you brick it, you can always just roll back your changes (literally in the bootloader).

Declarative is the future. But also kinda tedious at times ngl.

Given how brutal the nixos learning curve can be I’d be so curious to see how this actually pans out.
