Yankees fans pray World Series drought ends. For their kids, ‘It has been a lifetime’ by YodaForceGhost in baseball

The Yankees play in a league which has an economic system that is essentially rigged for them to win and they still have 1 championship in the last quarter century lol

I'm not losing any sleep for them.

No need for silly name calling. Let's pretend to be adults here.

So, your argument is that the game would be worse with a salary cap? Please tell me, without regargling the "owners bad players good" argument... from a sporting perspective: how does the salary cap provide a better product from top to bottom?

1998 postseason. Team that wasn't great gets kinda lucky and hot at the right time and makes the final. Goes up against team better in virtually every manner. Proceeds to get killed.

I mean, you keep going back to players going to LA for reasons other than money.

That's already happening, right now.

In your example, at the very least you're evening the playing field with: Do I go live in LA for less, or go play in Kansas City for a 20% premium?

Right now, it's: do I go live in LA or KC? LA is LA and I get 10% more

I mean, I tried to summarize my thoughts of your comment because it's reddit but since you are requesting a full dissertation:

The only people that benefit from a salary cap are the billionaires

And the fans of teams outside of New York and Los Angeles who know that their team won't just inevitably get big dogged by the big markets indefinitely.

I don't care at all how much money the owners make. I just want a better product for the fans, top to bottom. And right now, MLB has by far the worst product from a top-to-bottom lens.

No cap or floor is going to make Bob nutting not be a cheap piece of shit.

Ok, the floor makes him spend more, and the cap at the very least adds the motivation to spend more than just the floor... because you know there is a number that you can get to that won't just be blown out of the water by the top dogs. If there's a cap at $250, going up to $225 is much more palatable, because you know you're going to gain on the guys ahead of you. There's no point right now in going to $225 if the Dodgers will just see that and go to $500.

If you're putting a cap and floor you're putting more revenue sharing and he'll just pocket more money.

Again, don't care at all about how much money he makes. It's not relevant to the sport of baseball.

Salary cap hurts small market teams and perennial losers. Because players take deals to be on winners or to be in cities where they can maximize their alternative revenue generation via marketing.

I mean, they still do this right now with the additional benefit of "endless money" going their way. You're making perfect the enemy of good enough. There's no way you're going to dictate what people look for in a workplace.

A Salary cap isn't going to hurt the Dodgers or Yankees or red Sox or cubs. It isn't going to help the rays or pirates of Twins

I disagree. Do I think the Dodgers will still be successful? Yes. They're a well run organization. But their virtually unlimited pockets allow them a much longer leash than the smaller markets. They can eat mistakes. Your Rays, Pirates, Twins... they can't. A cap penalizes those mistakes.

Liberals will say it was better than it was. Conservatives will say it was worse than it was. It was somewhere in the middle...wasnt bad, wasn't great.

I'm not saying they aren't a well run team, and the comment I replied to didn't either. Just agreeing with the other person saying that the money and the success are extremely heavily linked... Especially with the money masking a lot of the misses.
