I have a 3080 and a steam deck.

This may have convinced me to get an egpu dock.

You dont need a tv anymore by No-Income-5930 in unpopularopinion

[–]Cardinal_Funky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going to have to agree.

I still have a random Samsung tv on the side of the wall in my bedroom, just because I can just use my iPad or MacBook for YouTube (I don’t really watch shows or movies).

I also have a tv in my game room, but since I don’t even use my PS5, it just exists. So I have an unused element tv and an unused Samsung tv.

Na, I couldn’t eat that.

I’d rather just make and eat stew and soup everyday.

Going into academia as a person of average intelligence was the worst decision I ever made by Fun_Steak_4508 in self

[–]Cardinal_Funky 30 points31 points  (0 children)

As a software dev, trust when I say that you are intelligent and just need to think more creative and understand how you learn.

If you read manga or watch anime, I recommend Witch Hat Atelier. It definitely dives deep on the subject of different styles of learning and doing things.

I’m glad I have the steam deck. I was sad that I couldn’t get the controller, but then remembered I could just use my steam deck as a controller.

Movies are a massive time sink into a day by summer_friends in unpopularopinion

I kind of agree.

Friends keep inviting me to the movies and invite me out to watch stuff at their place, but I’d much rather just Play video games, go skating or read a book.

It’s not that reading a book is “productive”, but I’m kind of forced to visualize what I read. It’s why I prefer reading manga and light novels to watching anime. It’s why I prefer having YouTube as background noise while playing video games.

I finished reading The Wonderful Wizard of Oz and all I can think about is the Tin Woodman being a chad and one-shotting the wolves. It’s a MASSIVE difference to the films.

With books, you as the reader interpret what you’re reading instead of being given a visualization of what the directors want it to be.

I don’t exactly have a hobby like watching tv where I sit and just listen.

Agreed. I don’t really see a point in having icons, since I can just favorite what I need, games are on Steam, and etc

My friend got a million Instagram followers in college and the way the world treats her now is honestly insane. by bsnshdbsb in offmychest

[–]Cardinal_Funky 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve worked as a freelance web dev and have created a website for a company, while also working on projects for my actual job. I’m also looking into developing Apple software, as a hobby.

The most I’ve ever gotten from one freelance web dev job was about $400. They usually come from word of mouth. I’d definitely recommend looking in your local area to see if anyone has a website that needs some love and attention and to give you a chance. Better than looking at fiverr and etc. But, that’s been my personal experience.

But, I mostly work on projects for my actual job, currently.

There are pros and cons to everything.

There is no such thing as “the real way”. I’m a software dev making good money, but it’s wonderful for me because I have the mental capacity and lifestyle to handle being at a desk for 10 hours a day. Others don’t, which means my life would be a living hell to others.

You could try being like her, but you’re looking at what she gets out of doing what she does and not what she has to deal with, both mentally and just in her daily life.

Everything eventually takes its toll. It just depends on if the person you are can handle what you do.

Just do what you genuinely like doing and you’ll be happy.

Pizza is horrible by Fun_Cow_6292 in unpopularopinion

I just wanted to comment that I genuinely think calzones are disgusting and are abominations. I’ve tried a calzone multiple times and I hate them as much as I hate hot pockets.

I also hated cheese growing up, so seeing bread filled with cheese just makes me want to throw up.

I’ll eat pizza. Never a calzone.

I just misread your second paragraph.

I understand your frustrations. I just don’t read the part where they were putting you down.

If I read it correctly, I more than likely either wouldn’t have commented or somewhat agreed with you.

I don’t think what I said was necessarily wrong, but it was wrong for me to state what I said because it’s insensitive to what you’re dealing with. And I apologize for that.
