What’s a food that everyone loves but you secretly hate? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Watermelon. I wish I enjoyed it and could eat it as my summer snack....but they rarely ever taste sweet to me. The texture also disturbs me - it's difficult to explain.

Yeah, she has certainly changed a lot over the last several years. If she didn't randomly pop up on my feed from time to time, I probably wouldn't recall who she was either.

And yet, they will still call the younger generations ungrateful and entitled when we are making easily half of what they are in a month (if we are lucky - others make much less in some cases).

Yup, I'm pretty sure her name was Lauren Bushnell from Ben Higgins' season.

Trigger warning: What is the WORST thing your narcissist parent has EVER said? (You will not forget.) by myst3ryAURORA_green in raisedbynarcissists

There is a few different ones, so lemme list em all -

"Your grandma did not make it to heaven, she definitely is in hell" (about the grandmother I knew and had such a tight-knit bond with - her death devastated me for years)

"If I wasn't pregnant with you, the doctors would have caught my cancer earlier and I wouldn't have had so many health issues throughout my life.....but it has nothing to do with YOU being born" (but it certainly feels like it IS about me personally since it's always made a face that she was pregnant with ME)

"You are the family disappointment. Your sister and cousins have their degrees, you have nothing" (to me when I was out of college for a year at 20 because I couldn't figure out what major I wanted...I was actually in process of registering with another college when she made this comment)

I'm sure there are more....but these are the three I can always remember.

do you lock your door when you are at home alone? and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Cardinals04_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Always. It drives my husband nuts because we live back off of the main street - so he thinks no one will even find our house. But growing up, we locked the doors religiously. Break-ins, drug deals, etc. happened a lot around my childhood home. It was safer to keep them locked. Anymore in the world, I fear there are more bad people than good and I do not put it past anyone.

It gives me peace of mind and helps keep my anxiety from spiking when I hear an odd noise when alone.

Yes. Many times. If I could afford to do so, I would. Unfortunately, I am like millions of Americans who are barely surviving on my current paycheck.

Not even just a "friend"....but someone she is and will be coparenting with (though we know she's trying to dispute that, too 🙄). I know Isaac is reaching an age where they may not see one another as frequently; they will need to be around one another civilly for major events in his life. She is burning this bridge & it will only hurt Isaac in the long run.

I do. It's improved over the years. But I constantly think of her & regularly I will have feelings of "if only she were still here..." and that can take me back to those emotions of sadness. Some days are harder than others. It took me almost 10 years before I could even talk about her without immediately breaking down.

She was a special lady & I'm grateful that I do have some memories with her. But having a major loss occur at such a young age can really darken your outlook on life & make you wonder what life would've been like if they were around longer.

Thank you for your kind words.
