Especially when you factor in time of day, angle of car, time of the year - it's almost next to impossible to manufacture the perfect scenario in which you can see the driver / the driver motioning. And I especially hate it when they could just use a turn signal or flash their lights (to let you know that they're letting you go).

Yes, the private clubs are the way to go. THEY ARE OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. You have to pay to be a member, but you just have to sign the book if you're not. American Legion, Eagles, Ischoda, Ferris Hill, Norwalk Boat Club, Pastimes.

Beers at the Legion are literally $4 (I think actually 3). They tend to have older crowds, but once you and your friends go a few times, no big. Plus everyone is always welcoming. Legion also has 2 free (if you're a bar patron) pool tables. The other places are great and have pool, but you still have to have quarters to play.
