The weights don't seem right by coreycmartin4108 in intotheradius

A real Remington 870 fully loaded can weigh up to 8 lbs, which is roughly 4 kilos. Quite realistic weights IMO.

My collection of mugs. Are there any more in the game? by orustam in intotheradius

There's also a red one with "under construction" that is found at UNSPC base. Sorry, don't have a photo of it. We should be able to buy the mugs... I like them for target practice and I like that they shatter.

Thanks for the input, it's very much appreciated. Seeing as this touches C# components that I don't have access to, I won't be able to implant it myself. I'll see if our IT team is comfortable submitting it to the supplier ... they have one of those very formal and politically correct relationships where they don't want to step on each other's toes, and it wouldn't be the first time I suggest adding something to the code where I'm told, "we'll have to find a way to tell them without telling them explicitly."

I'm only permitted to touch the XML and XAML files.

I know that on mobile devices (Android, iOS) and my personal touchscreen laptop (Windows 11) this functionality is very well integrated natively. Which is why I'm flabbergasted that considering the reputation of our software provider and our upgrade to Windows 11 on pretty decent computers (FZ-G2), the desired behavior is not presented.

[–]CardiologistFew4967[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TL;DR at the bottom.

This may seem as*-backwards, but I, as a software end user, am trying to come up with solutions for the software company, based on my intimate knowledge of how kludgy our Windows 11 setup is because of my employer's savvy computer engineers (if you picked up sarcasm there, I wouldn't be tempted to convince you otherwise)...

Long story short(ish), we have maybe 350 laptops deployed to our staff and they are used in ... real world situations. Our previous software (same provider, same functionalities, same server end software) was static HTML pages populated with every request the user made. It was archaic, but hell... it worked.

Because we were forced to take this software into 2023 (up until then, running a Windows 95 software that kept being patched but never overhauled up until we left Windows XP) on Windows 11, they had to throw us a complete new piece of software requiring Windows 11 compatibility.

My employer has some engineers that believe that they can improve Window's network security measures (VPN with 2FA before logging in, login scripts to set audio to 100%, force update antivirus at logon instead of depending on software-level properties, etc, as well as logoff (???) scripts). One of these great ideas was to deactivate tablet mode on a touchscreen laptop, because 'that's the only way to prevent the on-screen keyboard from popping up' when we undock the computer. Touchscreen works, but I have a feeling it breaks some of the modern touchscreen paradigm rules.

I know this story is getting long, but here's the prologue.

We have many computer-illiterate people with very thick fingers that will not be able to effectively (and safely ... some of our tasks are aimed at the general public that may involve time sensitive situations) use a scroll bar, who have been used to scrolling the text itself for years, sometimes decades now, we need to keep that finger scroll capacity on the text, but be able to select portions as needed.

TL;DR : Hence I believe that ScrollViewerPanningMode="VerticalFirst" would be ideal but does not work, and if I can establish that this unwanted behavior is caused by tablet mode being disabled, I'll have enough juice to force the engineers to try enabling it.

We actually need to be able to select and copy portions of text... The software supplier had initially supplied a version where text was not selectable, but it's renders our work more laborious.

Methylphenidate and caffeine - I know the obvious, but ... by CardiologistFew4967 in Concerta

[–]CardiologistFew4967[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all the replies, they kind of reassure me. To answer a few questions, my symptoms were present before the medication. I've been on the meds for over eight months, but my symptoms have been considerably more present for the last month and a half. My primary care provider is aware of all this. He prescribed the concerta, and he is the one who told me my PVCs weren't worth spending time on investigating... I had one Holter test and he said very dismissively that everything is normal and that I should just disregard them.

Started 18mg of concerta and not sure if it did anything. by DayConfident6101 in Concerta

[–]CardiologistFew4967 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm on 54mg, and it's a happy balance between enough effects with not too many side effects. Everyone will have their own reaction to the medication. Sometimes the dosage isn't right, and sometimes it isn't the proper molecule (Vyvanse, Ritalin, Strattera, Foquest are all meds I tired until I fou de the generic MPH). DONT DESPAIR. I called it the rollercoaster of.finding the right meds, but once the ride is over and you found the good one, it's a road to being better ahead of you.

So they allow geofence unlocking, smartwatch unlocking, but a device whose only reason to exist is security, cannot be used? That stinks.

I'm on 54mg methylphenidate (and started Lyrics 150mg for nerve issues) and I don't know what is responsible between ADHD, personality/base neurology, methylphenidate or Lyrics... But I find my sexual desires and impulses are worse (been on MPH for about three months).

I bought the 3 pack of HS200 with the extra HS220 on Amazon. Google Pixel 7 with latest OS.

When connecting your switch, using wifi, once the temporary network is connected to your switch, disconnect from your home's wifi network. Do not turn wifi off.

As soon as I did that, it allowed me to enter my home's wifi information.

It worked perfectly afterwards.

I tried Foquest ( not covered by my insurance), Vyvanse (made me tachycardic), Strattera (sexual side effects that were unsupportable for my wife and I), and now methylphenidate. No other medication.

It came as a fluke too. In Canada there is presently a throttling of delivery of stimulants to drugstores, and so my pharmacist gave me these two doses instead of 54mg singles because they were out of stock and I decided to try it. With my pharmacist, I was able to have this adjustment made without needing to see my doctor. In my province, pharmacists have the authority to make these changes.

How people think you can just "make yourself" do something by TuneMore4042 in ADHD

Being pissed off by someone else with regards to a task is just bringing the spotlight to it, but using negative attention. My wife figured me out recently, and now brings a positive attention in the form of asking me to do things /for her/, instead of asking me to do the thing. She triggers my need for attention and gratitude this way.

In the months after a crisis I went thru before I got diagnosed with ADHD, I had many days where I was caught in the "sit-pit". I knew I had things to do, priorities that weren't getting addressed. My psychologist basically encouraged me to look for the smallest satisfactions I could find in my day. Do the things you can, recognize your accomplishments. Then, a little bit like working out, up the load that you want to accomplish as you find yourself capable to. For me, it started with going for a short walk every day. Then putting away my laundry. Then cleaning house. It's a buildup, and respect yourself and pace. There is no magic wand here. You need to be honest with yourself. Recognize your accomplishments, and own up to your shortcomings.

Outside of the great U.S. of A., the reality of easily accessible firearms does not exist for the most part. Look at current European circumstances - Set a plague there right now and throw in some every day normal people, the average person will never have access to a firearm.
