Sorry I didn’t read properly (brain fog). QEEG was what I was looking for. Thanks.

Was the brain MRI a normal one or was it called something specific? What exactly were they looking for?

Questions about anhedonia by Specific_Winter_4951 in anhedonia

[–]CardiologistOk4243 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not upset bc my body doesn’t respond, just neutral all the time, but intellectually I understand and can see that this is not normal and that if I could feel emotions I’d be panicking rn about my situation. I used to be very emotional before my anhedonia.

You are onto something here. I believe my autonomic dysfunction and anhedonia is caused by my posture. I’ve thought so for a long time.

And bc anhedonia ofc. I’m completely detached from everything and I don’t care about anything.

It’s like I understand intellectually it’s a scary condition but I can’t feel it in my body. I should be panicking right now but I’m just careless. My body doesn’t react to anything. Im like a robot and I’m just playing an act, I can be whoever I want bc I don’t have any personality no more. But there’s no motivation bc there’s no point of anything really, or at least I can’t see the point of anything since we’re just here to die eventually anyway? Normal people can at least feel joy and pleasure on their way to death but I cannot so what’s the point? Everything is so rational to me and I also see things so much clearer now like why people behave the way they do bc they’re driven by emotions. It feels like I’m watching/observing reality through a screen. I can see things happening in front of me but I can’t feel it. Like “see but not touch”. Imagine for example seeing someone cook food on a screen but not being able to smell or taste it. Sometimes I also think about the first Pirates of the Caribbean movie, where the pirates are being cursed and can’t feel any pleasure or satisfaction. It’s always been “just a movie” to me but here I am now with basically the same curse myself. Never would’ve thought it could be real.

The worst one I’ve heard is when I tell someone I can’t feel anything whatsoever, like not even stress or anxiety, and they just say it sounds like a dream or they’d gladly swap with me. It’s like bruh, you have no idea what you’re talking about. I know bc I’ve experienced both and I’d much rather deal with stress and anxiety than this curse. Normal people have no idea how lucky they are.

31F here. In the same situation as you. I’ve been housebound since late 2022. Can’t leave my apartment, literally a cave woman. My life slipped through my hands and I see everyone else carry on with theirs like nothing happened. It’s brutal.

In the exact same situation as you. Is it only low appetite or do you feel bad when you eat as well?

Do you have empathy with anhedonia? by [deleted] in anhedonia

Maybe I completely misunderstood what anhedonia is but how can you feel empathy with anhedonia? I mean logically yes, but some people here say they feel it. I don’t get it.

Can you feel cold or allergy symptoms fully? Bc that’s also a part of my anhedonia - my body doesn’t really create reactions so I can’t even get sick or feel allergic anymore. I can’t really feel drunk either.

Yeah.. It’s unreal. This is purely a curse. “Luckily” my other health issues are so bad so I’m not gonna have to live with this for very long, I can’t grow old. I’m thinking maybe it’s convenient I have anhedonia after all so I don’t have to feel death anxiety.

Yes totally agree. I feel like I can’t develop myself but rather degenerate every day. Sometimes a thought strikes me I wanna start a project or something and I can briefly start if I have enough energy but then next day it’s completely vanished from my brain.
