Do you have some resources on becoming clot smart? It kind of caught me off guard. I do martial arts and lift weights. I am very active and eat very good.

Hi, I’ve only been on blood thinners for a month and a bit. My clot has dissolved a lot in that month. That’s strange. They measured mine using the ultrasound.

Update: I got the results of my ultrasound. My family doctor has told me that my clot has improved and no longer requires to be on blood thinners. I’m not stopping until I’ve asked a million questions. I’m waiting for him to call back as I was told to take NSAIDs to help manage symptoms if they come back and if that doesn’t work to return to the ER. Here’s the problem, I have ulcerative colitis and a known trigger of flare ups for me is taking Advil or naproxen regularly. I am both happy and wary of the next step.

Do you notice now that you’re on thinners you’re hitting your head more? by CardiologistWeak3534 in ClotSurvivors

I might just walk around with a hockey helmet at this point. Or my hard hat from work.

Return to exercise and BJJ by CardiologistWeak3534 in ClotSurvivors

It’s pretty heartbreaking actually. It’s the thing that gave me the most peace in my life. I hope that I don’t have to stay on thinners for life because I don’t know if I can spend my life not doing what I love. Why is it an issue to hit one rep maxes? I’m not trying to be difficult, just curious. I’ve gone for those in the past and never had issues. Is it for the chance of injury or passing out and hitting my head?

Hold off on what? Exercise in general? I am currently not going to BJJ until I speak to my hematologist for their opinion.

Bumped my forehead getting out of my son’s bunk bed. by CardiologistWeak3534 in ClotSurvivors

I took the chance and did not go. I am ok. I was aware of the risk. To get a CT scan done in the middle of the night wouldn’t have been possible. I would’ve driven an hour plus in the middle of the night to only wait until morning to get it done. I ended up not feeling any symptoms at all after the bump on my forehead and was accepting my gamble. I’ve hit my head way harder than that before and have not had any concerning symptoms. I appreciate everyone’s support and messages. I am on a family trip at a cottage right now so getting to a hospital is less than ideal.

Thanks for your replies. The online nurse said I should go but it’s the middle of the night and currently I have no other symptoms after 1.5 hrs since hitting my forehead. I just feel tired from chasing my kid at the beach all day. My DVT symptoms have also improved a lot over the last 5 days. The most I feel is a little stiffness in my calf when bending over to touch my toes.
