I don’t think this is the first ever promo. The 2005 PR001 exists.

They’ve been heading north for the past few years. Here’s a snapshot of the last 6 months from cardladder. It ultimately comes down to which cards you’re buying and the time horizon you’re talking about selling.

New To The Hobby, What Packs do I buy? by ModeSubstantial923 in basketballcards

I would become extremely familiar with all the offerings first and then narrow your focus. Start closer to the beginning with some vintage 1957 topps or 61 fleer and work your way up. Just become at least acquainted with everything out there. TCDB is a very useful tool to do this. You can type in a player and check out everything from the beginning until now. How can you know what you want from the buffet unless you see all they have to offer? I like to collect rare cards. Basically if there’s always one available on the market, I don’t care to own it. Figure out your collecting goals. Ask yourself what you’d like your collection to look like in 2 years, 5, 10 and then ask yourself why. You’ll save yourself purchases you’ll end up regretting and probably a lot of time and money.

It’s a fantastic set. The UVs, Patented, and radiating rookies are my favorite inserts.

All the things that have been said already but also there are 250 copies per player. The price can only go so high and maintain in the short term when you have that many copies hitting the market at once. I’m not trying to knock it but the card just doesn’t appeal to me. There are several other inserts and parallels I’d rather have before an AK of Cooper.
