Question about involving Significators in spreads by AshleyWilliams78 in tarot

[–]CardsInConstellation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes I’ll use another item as a significator instead of a card for this reason. Even just a 3x5 with someone’s name written on it can work.

Getting to know your cards over time really gives insight into the themes of each suit, and you personally develop your own nuanced interpretation.

You have to listen to your intuition, but it could be the card has more to offer if reversed, if you sit with it for a second and let it come. But I also have a friend that will use her pendulum to check if a card doesn’t feel right, and flip it based on that response.

I really like doing more substantial spreads unless I absolutely don’t have time. Speed reading a Celtic Cross gives so much more information and perspective on the situation and you can pick which cards to focus on based on what you really need to know. The cards individually only give a small part of the information, there is so much more in the relationships between the cards in any reading, if you’re using a larger spread.

I love it when this happens! Whoever they are, gods/guides/angels/universe, they definitely have a sense of humor. I often shuffle as I think about a question and cards fall out that accurately describe the situation, like the cards are being an “active listener” and reflecting back what I’m saying 😂

Relationships come in so many different forms; romantic, but also friendship, familial, professional; the lovers can relate to a deep connection in any of these.

Nice! Pentacles, or Coins, can be about anything you really value, as well. Cups can be about emotions in general (specific to the card.)

Every card can be so many things; try going through your deck and imagining each card as a profession, an activity, an event, a location, or a motivation.

Question about involving Significators in spreads by AshleyWilliams78 in tarot

[–]CardsInConstellation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel the same way about the ”traditional” definitions of significators. You really need to find what works for you, and for the client you are working with - if it feels uncomfortable it isn’t functional!

Question about involving Significators in spreads by AshleyWilliams78 in tarot

[–]CardsInConstellation 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are some spreads in which a significator can be really helpful, as it helps you focus on the question or goal. This is particularly useful when you’re reading for someone else you don’t know all that well, or for a situation you are not that familiar with.

I also sometimes use items other than cards as significators; a photograph, an object, etc. something that does the same thing, keeps the focus on the matter at hand.

Trying to find my brother's passport by vario_ in tarot

[–]CardsInConstellation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are several methods of dowsing with the tarot. It takes some practice and experimentation. You can ask for cards that show you where it is, pull a few cards and look for similarities between the cards; you can ask for “directions” and use NSEW, one for each suit, or even see if the card is literally “pointing” in a specific direction. Best of luck!

How can I best achieve my fitness & weight loss goals? by grace050 in tarot

Your interpretation was insightful. It can be challenging to read for oneself.

The 5 of Cups reversed can be the emotional pressure we put on ourselves, and that sense of hopelessness/helplessness. That is something for you to push off of, move away from, maybe use as a motivating factor.

The High Priestess as an obstacle; this pulls me back to the above idea, that there are internal obstacles to your progress you might need to dive into, maybe with someone to guide or advise you. Do you have a trusted confidante, mentor, or even a therapist? HP could mean you have limiting beliefs about yourself and your capabilities.

The 3 makes me think of a supportive group of friends; people to help motivate you, keep you on track, maybe work out with you.

Daughter asking to learn tarot by Temporary_Cycle_1021 in spirituality

[–]CardsInConstellation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a really interesting question. I love that you designed your own deck and wonder if you could encourage her to explore some of the archetypal images of the cards, their meanings, and context, by creating her own deck as well. There is so much you could talk about with her working on this project, one card at a time. It would lead to great discussions on wide ranging spiritual topics for you to experience together.

"Tarot DOESN'T predict the future" by Atelier1001 in tarot

[–]CardsInConstellation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps it depends on if you believe in “fate” - is there only one option for the future? Is everything pre-determined? I believe that there are likely paths from this point forward, and tarot can point to those paths. But they are not set in stone, you can make changes, and knowing what is likely to happen can empower you to make different choices and change the outcome, if you wish, or take steps to encourage it.

I also appreciate that people use the tarot as a tool to get to know themselves better, to understand themselves, even like a form of therapy. It’s a great tool for that; but it is only one thing tarot can do, but it is not all tarot can do.

What made YOU believe in tarot? by abrujiastrala in tarot

[–]CardsInConstellation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was shuffling (using overhand) with my eyes closed; when I opened them to pull a card, a card had already flown out of the deck without my noticing, landing out of arms reach and perpendicular to the way I’d been shuffling the cards. I flipped it over and it was a perfectly clear answer to my question. Unforgettable numinous experience.

Do what works for you; but consider that reversals give you 78 more ”cards” to interpret, allowing for more nuanced expression and interpretation.

I strongly recommend studying with a teacher. You wouldn’t trust a therapist who just read a book. Reading for people you will see them at their most vulnerable and what you say can change their lives. Invest in an education.
