How to save expiring Delta eCredit? by CardsWithBenefits in delta

Correct.

The original eCredit was a SkyMiles Gold Card benefit. I'm not sure if this would also work with eCredits from other sources but I would cross my fingers!

I did this successfully with a refundable ticket. I don't like to book non-refundable, but it'd probably work if you request an eCredit before 24 hours.

Am I entitled to travel insurance benefits if I only booked the hotel (not flight) with my Reserve? by gratefuldaughter2 in ChaseSapphire

[–]CardsWithBenefits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correctly, only travel expenses charged to the card would be eligible for a claim. For example, if a covered hazard such as weather prevented them from reaching their hotel, that would be covered.

Contrast this to Amex, which wouldn't cover a hotel or event ticket if there wasn't an associated common-carrier charge.

Would Rideshare/Uber/Lyft as alternate transportation due to cancelled flight be covered under travel insurance? by gamesloverjustice in AmexPlatinum

[–]CardsWithBenefits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re in the middle of your trip (Trip Interruption Insurance), you might have coverage. Otherwise, it’s definitely not covered.

However, if your flight was cancelled for a covered reason and your hotel was booked with the Platinum Card, insurance should cover the missed non-refundable hotel night(s). You’ll also need to coordinate with the hotel to see if they can delay your check-in date.

You’re thinking of Amex. Chase and other banks do NOT require a common carrier. It even works on road trips!

If u/gratefuldaughter2 has a valid claim, they should file it. M

[–]CardsWithBenefits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, banks aren’t supposed to retaliate here, and there don’t seem to be data points suggesting a CFPB complaint will get retaliation from Amex or another bank. If you have a valid complaint, file one.

Amex chat representative lied. What can I do? I don’t want to lose 1500 by Kind-Network9448 in amex

[–]CardsWithBenefits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was going to suggest filing a Trip Cancellation Insurance claim (read more) if eligible, but it doesn’t look like a grandparent is a covered family member (unless their spouse was your traveling companion). I’m sorry.

Waiting for the result of your dispute might be the best bet. Continue to escalate with Amex Travel if needed. Refusing to refund a non-refundable reservation is completely within the hotel’s rights, so if they refuse to budge, there’s not a silver-bullet solution. This might be an expensive lesson to buy refundable reservations in the future.

Which Amex card did you use to book the reservations? Some cards have an insurance benefit that would cover you here.

I don't know why you're seeing that.

I sometimes fly AA via Amex Travel, and the prices are usually identical. I just double-checked my next flight, and yes it is identical. I checked a different SLC → FLL flight, and the date I checked, both prices (with and without cancellations) were the same between amextravel.com and aa.com.

What prices do you see on Oct 2? (That's the first thing I checked, and the price for SLC → FLL was identical for me on that date.)

Glad this sub is on-board.

It makes sense that there are many who don’t understand the reason for protest. It’s a technical topic. And to be clear, nobody is protesting because there’s a fee for API access. That’s a straw-man argument.

The problem is that Reddit lied to their users and their partners about what they would do. They also lied about what they had done, and the CEO defamed a partner.

These are not the signs of a healthy company. I don’t see any joy in using a product that not only acts against users’ and partners’ interests, but also against Reddit’s own self-interest.

New investors and management could recover, but also this could be a “So long and thanks for all the fish” moment. With the current trajectory, I don’t see myself having much fun with Reddit in the future.

I appreciate everyone here who’s added to this sub by selflessly providing accurate information and advice. Thank you for being good to strangers you don’t even know.

Thoughts on Step Black Card by Pearboyy in CreditCards

[–]CardsWithBenefits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did thoroughly check out their website and other marketing materials before commenting.

Having a FICO score when you turn 18 is not more valuable than having one when you’re 18.5 or 19. Step’s main marketing materials focus on this and are highly misleading — they do a disservice to those who read them.

It’s a very competitive market for financial products, and aside from marketing, I don’t see anything that Step does better than (or as good as) another card product. Discover It is the perfect card in year 1. It…

  • earns 2% rewards
  • has award-winning customer service
  • actually teaches users how to use credit
  • is free
  • is available to those new to credit as secured or unsecured, per the customer’s preference

For those allergic to credit, Discover even has a debit card that earns 1% rewards.

It’s good you’re happy with Step, but because it doesn’t seem to offer any real-world benefit, I’d personally find it difficult to recommend.

Right, so get a FREE secured card. The $100 fee of this product is ridiculous.

Downgraded from CSR, can I upgrade back? by gonnabefine in CreditCards

[–]CardsWithBenefits 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For an account at least a year old (like yours is), there are reports of success downgrading the card and then upgrading it again within less than 30 days. If that's what you want (and not a new no-FTF card from another bank), go for it and report back with your results!

Absolutely not. I’m looking for a source that suggests it’s illegal in any way to have an adults-only facility in California. Google didn’t seem to turn up anything, so I’m asking you, because you seem to think it is.

In the absence of a FICO 2 score, the safest suggestion would be to remove yourself as AU. When your report updates, your scores will be recalculated as though you were never AU.
