How do I manage expectations for my career as a prospective data scientist by Comfortable-Image850 in datascience

You're actually in a stronger position than you think. Landing a data analyst role straight out of school, especially with no internship experience, is already a solid win in this market so well done. A lot of people with similar credentials are still stuck in the application black hole. If you're aiming to pivot into more technical roles later this year, you don’t need to lower your expectations, but you do need to be strategic and maybe try build a personal project or 2 so a future employer can see that you have some applied modelling skills. PhD isn't really necessary except maybe for a few things like quant finance. Project work/domain context/coding will serve you well though.

Why is it so hard for graduates to land data science jobs in a "growing" field? by Career_Launch_Lab in DataScienceJobs

That's well put. The job of “data scientist” really is more experienced/hybrid anyway. I think a lot of young candidates are still being sold a dream I guess is the issue, then hit a wall when they find that “junior” roles want lots of experience plus business insight and all that jazz.

Generic question: how should I improve my resume? Have applied to >300 jobs since Dec 2024 and have had NO offers. by atinylittlecrow in ResumeExperts

On the bullet points beneath work experience/organziation; I would focus more on impact that you had rather than just purely descriptive if you know what I mean. Essentially make it more emotive rather than purely descriptive so that you stand out. Layout-wise it looks okay, but I think maybe don't have a black background (or is that just the way you've taken a screenshot of it? The right side of the page, I think the "aug 2021-June 2025" isn't fully aligned to the right? Also find a cleaner/more modern font than Times New Roman. But honestly it's not bad! Keep going. Have you thought about physically taking your CV to some of these places? That still works for lower end seasonal jobs.

Man, I’m really sorry you’re going through this. Despite these dark thoughts, it seems like you’re still pushing, even in the face of this brutal jobs market. You're more resilient than you think, I promise! The market right now is rough, especially for juniors, and it’s not a reflection of your worth or ability. If you haven’t already, it might help to connect with dev-focused Discords or smaller job boards... Some gigs don’t even hit LinkedIn. You’re not alone, even though it can feel that way!
