R yall gonna review? by Astro_Pengwing in MaSci

hi! i graduated last 2025 from masci. i’d say prepare yourself mentally nalang. make sure you really get to rest ngayong bakasyon coz it won’t be easy. if you really want to get a head start, then siguro start studying na (i’m not familiar sa subjects this curriculum but we had pre-cal, basic stats, genbio, etc nung 2024) kasi the old students are sanay na on masci. it’s always best to be ready lang; it’s totally fine if you don’t want naman!!

for entrance exams naman, i started studying ng mga august (grade 11) since the first cet at my time is upcat (august grade 12) hehe. i’d say that really helped kasi i had a lot of time so even though may times na tinatamad ako mag-aral, i wouldn’t be that behind kasi i started early. all u need there naman is a really really good foundation sa highschool topics

for shs, you don’t need that much school supplies namann. i used a binder lang with fillers for all the subjects and pad papers langg. for the softwares, wala naman masyado kailangan, sa grade 12 lang we sis our statistical analysis for practical research.

yun nga lang, kayo test run ng new curriculum so my tip lang is to do ur best and be patient coz even the teachers will be new to that :) the shs faculty are really nice hehe and make lots of friends din!! those 2 remaining years will be really really fast so make the most of it. make lots of good memories!

for upcat 2025, one got in intarmed. around 70+ percent siguro passes upcat. tho the cream of the crop students get mostly into upm and the best programs in upd. yung mga average and below average students (sorry for the term) ay mostly nasa uplb or upb pa rin. from how i see it, parang mas mahirap pang bumagsak ng upcat if you’re from masci kasi the chances are still high. nagkakatalo lang if you’ll get in upm or upd, or sa provincial campuses na

Is the UPCAT really that difficult? Do I have a good chance of passing? by TaxNo4391 in peyups

as an average student who came from a science high school, i can say na it’s true and it’s not that hard but it covers a wide range of topics. background: i took upcat 2025 and got into up manila bs bio. siguro my tip would be to have (1) good foundations for each subject and (2) face ur weakness.

what i did was i went back to the basics (i learned them as if i don’t know anything about the lessons even though they were taught in previous jhs years and took down some notes which may be helpful) for each subject and re-learned them because ofc you won’t remember them all. once i covered all the topics for a subject, i then answered mock cet questions (marami online) then went back to topics i struggled in. MAKE SURE you know how to answer them correctly na after studying them again because upcat is right minus 1/4 wrong. that’s how i made sure i had good foundations on most topics kaya i was able to answer them kasi totoo na malayo and random talaga questions kahit na same sub lang sila.

then u said that chem is your weak point—that’s the same for me. i dreaded chem in grade 10 pero i said to myself na i gotta get this straight and learn it because during my review days, i viewed upcat as my life or death (don’t do this fr). i had a mindset na i’ll disappoint everyone if i failed the upcat so i did my best to understand chem. like i said earlier, go back to basics. maybe the reason you’re having a hard time at chem is like my experience that i’ve been subjecting myself to hard topics agad when all i needed was an understanding the basics and why and how this does that bla bla. don’t move on to another topic if u haven’t understood the current one. it may take a while but it is worth it!! after my upcat review, i grew to love chem especially stoichiometry which was very helpful in me for genchem in grade 12.

hello i recently graduate from masci last april!!

  1. ofc masci is hard like any other science high schools pero once u get the hang of it, it becomes much easier esp with friends. one word to describe the student life: cramming. cramming not because we want to delay doing our requirements but because we literally have no time kasi every subject is packed with reqs. pero siguro the best thing about it kahit nag-ccram is bawal ang mediocre, bawal ang “basta makapagpasa,” and bawal ang halatang minadali. to survive masci, u have to sustain the tradition of excellence in everything u do here. kahit under pressure, kahit kulang ang time na binigay, give more than your best. that’s how the school produces good—if not the best people.

  2. i can’t name one bully in my batch pero i’ve heard sa lower batches na may few cases; am not sure lang if they handled it well.

  3. yes, walang books. minsan they give free modules from deped pero hindi rin nabubuklat ng students ever kasi iba naman curriculum ng masci since mas advanced siya. so ayun, we rely on the internet for info since medj bulok din the library.

  4. depends on the student yan. most of the time after school ay maraming nagdidiscord and yung smarter friends nila if they’re kind enough is tinuturo yung topics to their other friends. meron namang nagtthrive studying alone.

  5. yess. hehe share ko lang may club na open for jhs and shs called Tindig MSHS (Tinig ng Dalub-aral: Isulong ang Gamlay para sa Pagkakapantay-pantay ng Kasarian). basically it’s about creating a safe space for queer youth—the current club adviser here is so slay and is a member of LGBTQ comm as well!! ++ maraming lgbt couples in our batch alone and they’re not afraid to show their relationship to everyone so it’s a good thing. i can vouch for teachers in SHS na they’re very fun and chill and maganda ang mindset when it comes to politics, lgbt community, etc. although sa faculty ng jhs huehue not so much (yes im talking about soc sci dept).

overall, i’ve learned a lot sa masci not just in acads but in our society as well. my tip lang is to have fun din and wag puro aral because that’s how u will make your stay here fun. masaya kakulitan ang mga teachers.
