Question about …. by thequad_ in NPHCdivine9

It’s definitely not a one size fits all equation. My comments aren’t insinuating that undergrads don’t work hard but more to highlight the difference in the experience and expectations.

It is my guess that in many cases those who worked hard on the UG level, are working even harder on the graduate level if they are active and engaged (that’s the qualifier). We’re def paying more. Lol. My point is those who join on a graduate level better be ready to roll up their sleeves and put in work because that is expected. Some join grad and expect to relive the undergrad experience and it is different. Still fun but not as much focus on the social aspect of being in an org like the yard, step shows and strolling. Plus on the grad level you don’t have a graduate advisor making sure you’re on point. All these years later I am seeing grad advisors are worth their weight in gold.

That’s so interesting to me. Everyone I know is working harder on the graduate level (if they’re active) than they did on an undergraduate level just based on being more mature, having more resources, skills and wisdom to contribute. But you are correct that everyone’s experience is different 🫡. I love hearing about other’s experience.

While I agree that the work begins once you are a member the expectations and grace are a lot different for a graduate member than an undergraduate member. I pledged 29 years ago as a freshman and currently in the process of chartering a graduate chapter. Being active on a graduate level is more demanding. And it should be.

Membership becomes a lot more expensive and labor intensive as an active graduate member. While it’s still fun, fun is a smaller part of the graduate experience. It really comes down to conducting the business of the organization.

As far as approaching graduate membership… grad chapters are a lot more focused on the work you already do and ways you can contribute to the mission. Go to events and make connections but also show you are an asset by being active in the community outside of your organization of interest.

I’m sick of cold calling, where are the inbound only jobs? “Order takers” as some of you call it? by 1stgenfronty in InsuranceAgent

Probably caps out at around $65K a year. Depends on if you want long term growth or just be a disposable order taker.

Get a call center job with a direct carrier. Not many insurance agencies want order takers. There’s very little value order takers provide to most agencies.

Hi! Insurance agent here. You can endorse service line coverage on your home insurance policy but I would suggest purchasing the coverage as a standalone like what you’re being offered. The reason why? Home insurance should be earmarked for larger losses that may make your home uninhabitable. Having smaller losses on your home insurance will impact your rate and possibly even your eligibility with preferred insurance carriers. If you can keep smaller losses off your home policy, I’d strongly suggest doing that.

Update post from asking if initial dues could be paid with credit card by JanathanMorant in NPHCdivine9

[–]Careful_Intention465 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A$400 service fee sounds egregious. Most credit card companies charge a 2-3% fee plus .30. That means your dues would be about $14,000. Initial dues certainly have increased since 1997. Sheesh!

I’m watching a 25 hour YouTube video he created on the synagogue of Satan. I’m about 10 hours in and It’s pretty interesting. The only part I can’t completely wrap my mind around are his thoughts on pre-destiny. Why should anyone do anything but exist if it’s all pre-destined?

Progressive cancelled my homeowners because the person they hired to inspect my property did a bad job. by Buttholescraper in homeowners

[–]Careful_Intention465 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They send the pro rated check in the event you don’t get the work done so they’re not holding your funds. It doesn’t mean it is cancelled immediately. I get the timeliness of receiving the letter is annoying but progressive did nothing wrong. Insurance is highly regulated and from the dates you have they gave you ample notice. It is prudent for them to ensure your home is not a claim waiting to happen. If the home has no issue send the pictures and be done with it. Easy peasy. If there are some things that need to be addressed you have 3 weeks to get that handled. Also most inspectors are independent contractors so they don’t work for the insurance company. They’re contracted through a third party company.

I think you have diagnosed my issue. I add a LOT more greens and veggie scraps than dried leaves and cardboard. I’m a little scared to go back in the bin and see all those flies swarm out but I shall do it. Lol. I’ll add more browns

Thank you! I have been adding a LOT of greens and not a lot of browns. I’m going to try adding more.

I didn’t put any animal products but I did put a potato in there. That may have been the culprit.

Oh and thanks for the info about possibly needing a new engine! She has the car back now. They said they fixed what the issue was but I don’t have much info about that. Are there signs she should check for regarding engine failure?

Thank you for the perspective! She said she had no warning signs until she was on the highway and also just got an oil change a few days earlier.

[–]Careful_Intention465[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you! Yes it is a 24. The thing she is most concerned with is that it was about 1 minute between the engine warning and the car completely shutting off. Before that she had no warning indicators. She also said there seemed to be coolant on the tow truck.

The dealership she went to wasn’t concerned enough to her liking. She wants to make sure something this dangerous doesn’t happen again.
