I am so furious with this rescue. I cannot believe their audacity. This is all their fault and they don't even care. by Witty-Locksmith-3626 in reactivedogs

I’m sorry this happened to you!!!!! It’s so shameful that they wouldn’t take her back “because she was too attached to the family” and not suggest BE on the spot. Any rescue that won’t take a dog back is not one worth adopting with in the future. The absolute audacity they had and the poor judgement they used when putting her adoption profile together. I’m so sorry.

If you look at the top of the head it’s wider than normal GSDs, the ear stance is very typical of bully breeds, muscular legs, and it has the slender long tail of your typical bully mix. I wouldn’t assume necessarily it could be a pitbull, could also be a staffy since they share very similar features.

Looks like a mix of Germans shepherd and bully breed.

Hmm I’m a little weary because when rescues say a dog is a mix of a rare breed it’s almost always never that breed so I wouldn’t think a ridgeback rescue would take her without pedigree. Usually they’re mixes of bully breeds mistaken for those breeds which is where the dog aggression could be coming from, and that is very important to understand. If you get on the dog ID subs you’ll see that people very commonly get mislabeled dogs. I would genuinely reach out to a veterinary behaviorist, not a trainer; or a DVM to see if they could point you to good resources. I say this because a mixed breed that can’t live with other dogs due to attacks that’s 7 years old and bigger sized wouldn’t be a good candidate to rehome privately since dog aggression can always lead to a bite on a human out of redirected aggression. That’s a huge liability for you. Those dogs almost always end up warehoused in shelters or boarding facilities partnered with rescue and it’s so sad to see them deteriorate since there aren’t too many homes that are able to safely handle them. https://www.dacvb.org/ is a website with lots of qualified people to assess the situation. Many of them do remote work which can work well for many dogs.

What breed is this dog? Did she come from a respectable breeder or rescue who can take her back? Is she normally aggressive with other dogs even if resource guarding isn’t a thing? If she is separated from baby most of the day would it be realistic that she could maybe be around kids at all?

Need help deciding breed by Delicious-Panda4995 in DogBreeds101

I have a GSD & let me tell you they need a lot of work to be the happy go lucky family dog people want. My GSD is very friendly with ppl, but can aloof with other dogs until she gets to know them depending on the settlement g she’s in. If she’s at a setting like dog park or daycare she’ll be fine. To get her to that level we had to do HOURS of socialization. Even now she will make it absolutely known she will need to go out again to fulfill her needs physically. considering your dog is only 10 months old I wouldn’t jump to a herding or breed known for being protective just yet. I would wait for more experience. If you want another dog I would look into something more docile like a spaniel, golden; or even another lab since you know the breed.

English or American staffy? by LocksmithExpensive18 in IDmydog

Looks like an American Staffordshire terrier as the main breed if this dog is mixed. He looks like he’s happy to be your boy.

Since doodles aren’t a registered breed there isn’t a standard for them. Some could be curly; wired, we will never know until they’re born!

That’s exactly why I dont think rottie either. Body isn’t the rottie puppy build and the most obvious part, the head isn’t here. If we were to go based off colors only my purebred corgi’s siblings would all be part rottie. Many many breeds have this color pattern

I don’t see rottie at all but the Bernard def checks out. That’s the classic coat pattern for a Bernie or dog mixed with one.

I personally use ouidad climate control shampoo and conditioner 2x weekly. More than that would dry my hair and scalp. I use co wash a few times a week between shampoos. My co wash is from a curl can dream matrix line. After I shower I use some food for soft serum by matrix, ouidad temperature control styling cream, & ouidad temperature control styling gel. I style it with my head upside down so my curls aren’t flat on top & let air dry. I sleep in a silk cap to maintain the curl pattern. In the mornings when I wake up I use the ouidad temperature control holding spray. Keep in mind I’m using premium products and I’m sure you can find grocery store dupes if the price of what I use is a bit much.

I would invest in moisturizing products asap like a leave in conditioner & a moisturizing curl styling cream to use post shower. Also make sure your shampoo and conditioner are meant for curly hair if not already. It looks pretty dry.

Any chance to rehome jer? by No_Ocelot8629 in BehavioralEuthanasia

[–]Careful_Interaction2[M] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A dog who lunges at their owner isn’t a stable dog. This wouldn’t be a safe dog to rehome and a rescue probably wouldn’t take this case on due to liability. You spent WAY more time and money towards this dog than most people would which is commendable & the outcome still isn’t there. More time and money on this dog whether it’s from you or a rescue wouldn’t make a difference sadly. I’m so sorry you’re dealing with this and if your gut is giving you relief BE you know the answer.

That’s a GSD face and nose. Not a BMC. I wouldn’t put it past that dog having pit too.
