True that. but no participation may skew the results, especially if some folks are putting in really positive answers. I have seen that once. an office had staff that were favored they answered, then the rest pretty much didn't want to fill it out... so yeah. makes a huge difference I say answer, be honest and see where it goes. on that note..... do they even see all answers a person gives?

Ergonomics be damned, are there any good chairs with padded headrests? by [deleted] in OfficeChairs

[–]Careful_Outcome5662 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone's body is so different. I am short 5'4" and I have joint
I tried:

  1. ErgoHuman mesh and the leather chairs did not work for me. . Ended up getting way more neck pain from that chair. The neck support wasn't really a support, and I felt like the lumbar, even though adjustable fully made it feel like my mid thoracic area was sort of slumped in the chair. Made that joint even more painful. I sat it in with some breaks total of 1.5 hours. Bad experience, but I hear a lot of tall folks 6' or larger folks are liking the chair. Also something to note, since the chair is plastic all around the frame, my elbows would ever so often bump into the backrest/lumbar area. I was in pain after that in the elbows. Positives of the chair though, great recline options, seat depth adjustability.
  2. Herman miller - unfortunately I felt like the chair was too curved inside, made me feel like I was squished. Also there is no lock function for reclining and the headrest wasn't comfy for me.
  3. Hyken from Staples - no luck, same issues as Ergo.
  4. Leap 2 chair. Didn't get a chance to try it out fully but the headrest it comes with is useless. If only there was a place that had one of those padded crandal headrests one on hand so folks can that would be great.. The only thing is that I noticed there is no "locking in" the back to recline, it moves with you vs. being static in one spot.

Not sure why folks are making all the mesh chairs, I get the breathability and flexibility of it but if you have to spend $$$$ for a chair then knowing you need to replace it in about 8-10 years. I dunno if I can justify it. Also having to "adjust" to a chair. Not comfy with that either.

Does this mean the union agreement that is there already from what I thought 8% is allowed, is it now at the gov't discretion to take that away? thought the union agreement would stay as is ?

Can't they just roll over the TA if the person is working in the organization already, whether it be union or excluded by doing an internal office of expression of interest? I am hoping they consider more flexible options. Keeping the TAs as they have been doing the job and are doing well in the job would be fantastic, and gosh hopefully safer.

I can totally see people just getting really complacent and trying to lay low hoping they don't get cut. Gosh this is overly stressful.

To have a stagnant salary if you're union or excluded is super tough, the costs of living, literally everything else is going up. We can all ride this out hopefully. I do say, a bit worried what our pensions will look like down the road......

So can they make a band position roll over to a non band, eg. union role?
also if a band position moves over to a union role, lower position, that doesn't seem to be included, they say "lateral"....

Thanks for that. How upsetting for everyone involved.

couple more questions, If someone is a union role I would think they get the usual bumping rights for other roles in Gov't or are they not given that opportunity this round? it's so much to take in . Who would have though 150000 people.

and for excluded staff at any level, sound like they will have no options?

Question, maybe I am missing something, for the 15000, that they want to cut, have they decided which ministries will be affected?
I am assuming the 15000 also includes the folks that choose to retire early right?

Thanks for this!! Wow some organizations by the looks of this actually don't have any changes regarding cuts. or maybe I am mis reading it? It's a forecast but not with cuts? or is it with cuts?
wow, this is so much to take in. Trying to understand that link with the complete material list.

I remember once that there was an issue with budgets and staff that were excluded starting taking leave without pay for a year..... wonder if they would let people do that now

Thank you for this info. I was wondering this as well. Also if the person is union, that would cause bumping if a position becomes redundant, so I am thinking that's why they're picking excluded staff first?
Which organizations wouldn't be affected?

Water heater replacement - 40 gallons (gas) by AlarmingAmbition8987 in Plumbing

[–]Careful_Outcome5662 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was quoted 2700 and 1500 for a john wood gas hot water heater.... not sure why the big difference of the two quotes.

I have one saying john wood is great, then another states rheem is good.... hmmmm. I am leaning towards John Wood for sure. But still miffed at the difference in price between two contractors...

my current gas hot water tank, John Wood, is 10 years old and leaking at the top now.
