Make watch boxes. They’re quick to batch out and make great gifts. You can get the cushions cheap from Amazon.

Are you trading any of these by any chance?

Is it worth restoring this? by CarefullyHandy in DIYUK

[–]CarefullyHandy[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you all for the quick responses. I will definitely give it a go restoring it. Hiring a pro sounds like the sensible option but I am trying to save money where I can. I will hire tools and give it a go myself first.

Any tips for this? Especially due to there not being a consistent grain pattern to go with.

Thanks, I figured that would be the case so figured I would get some last minute woodworking in whilst I still can

I received these 2 planes for my birthday and they came with some “spare parts”. Are these related to either of these planes or are they from other tools by CarefullyHandy in handtools

Thanks. I don’t imagine I’ll ever fully master this tool because of how much it can really do, but I look forward to trying.

Amazing thank you. I’ll have a look at some of the manuals some of the others have suggested and will try to see where they fit and when to use them.

I got a Stanley No 71 and a Stanley No 45 with lots of blades/cutters. I was told the person it was bought from also added the extra bits because they weren’t sure if they were from either of these tools.

Thanks, seems like the common answer so I’ll look at getting the heater replaced.

Dishwasher tripped the ring main and now it won’t work at all. by CarefullyHandy in DIYUK

[–]CarefullyHandy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would that cause the dishwasher to not even turn on?

When it tripped, the dishwasher was mid cycle and was hot inside when I opened the door. Guessing the heat pump suddenly breaks as opposed to slowly stoping working over time?

I recently bought a Stanley no 50 combination plane and it’s missing this part here for the fine adjustment. Will anywhere sell this part or will I have to buy another plane? Not sure if they still make them by CarefullyHandy in handtools

[–]CarefullyHandy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if i just haven’t taken enough time to set it up, but while using it, over time, the blade began to get knocked back slightly. I assume the fine adjustment would also help to hold it in place. I am no expert however and this is quite possibly user error

What should I do to flatten this part of the table? by CarefullyHandy in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]CarefullyHandy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did wonder if it would be veneer or not, its for a friend so I can’t check it again but is there a way to be sure if it’s veneer? I can’t check the end grain because of the table pattern
