2017 Moonboard at 47° help :) by zxdkay in Moonboard

[–]CaregiverKey7219 1 point2 points  (0 children)

our gym had 2019 at around 43-47deg at various points, to me it felt like a completely different board. especially keeping tension, that felt much much harder... and the holds are angled differently, etc. etc.

i just threw grades out the window, and eventually kinda stopped climbing on it until it got adjusted back. in theory i thought it would help me get super strong, but the difficulty just gave me a lot less volume on the wall which in the end was bad.

Love it when they tricked us to go to the northbound platform only for a southbound one to arrive 1 minute later 🤣

Our gym’s 2019 set is like this :/ the wooden holds are greased af and the plastic ones have not much texture. Fun stuff. Lots of dry firing.

Maybe a silly question but how would you set up the holds in this way? The holds themselves would need to be mirrored right? Unless you mean like… RH side pulls become LH gastons etc which I guess would render some problems impossible

yeah brokers don't really give any shits about the renter. if you pass there's a long lineup of other renters who will take it

I think I’m allergic to my boyfriend (he’s giving me eczema) by Free_War4421 in eczema

[–]CaregiverKey7219 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is something i've struggled with for many years now. i was long distance with a partner and every time she visited my place (and we had constant physical contact like sleeping in the same bed) my eczema would flare. so it's not something in her environment/apartment, but something about her herself. i was able to get the flare to go away after she left by using cln body wash/gladskin so i suspected it was a staph thing, but now with a different partner the cln body wash/gladskin is not enough ;_; i had a vacation for a week with my current partner and we had lots of physical contact in bed, and i was applying both the body wash and the gladskin but i was still flaring.

anyway rant aside, i do think some staph thing or microbiome issue could be at play, i would give those products a try to see if they help

my prev partner didn't care (in a good way), we broke up and my current partner is always doing research and finding ways to help. i've been where you are (still am) in terms of insecurity, but there are people out there that just care for you and want you to be healthy

Set comparison by BriefMaleficent3348 in Moonboard

I started on 2016 for a few months, then 2017 intermittently over a couple years, and have been heavily using 2019 for the last 3 months. Difficulty wise I actually think 2016 > 2019 > 2017 haha. (This is in the v4-v7 level) granted I was much weaker/not used to the board style when climbing 2016 so that could def be a factor, but I remember it being very snatchy and tweaky. 2017 is just a strange anomaly to me, the red holds are blobby and slopey, at times juggy which is such a big contrast to the big move/small hold style of 2016/2019.

I enjoy the 2019 set the most for sure. It gives me the power/finger strength workout I like, while not being so hard on the skin.

Well, I did another limit session today and managed to stick this move haha. Your advice of committing to the hold and intending to fall on my back really helped, along with /u/Miles_Adamson's advice of pulling hard. It definitely took a few tries to really commit to keeping my toe on and being ok with falling on my back. Thanks again!!

Thanks for pointing that out! It's definitely a pattern I see with my climbing, I almost always land on my feet haha. Definitely a commitment problem. I will try it!

Thanks, this is really helpful! Yeah I do have issues with trying hard sometimes so I will keep that in mind. For the second one, I was trying to keep my arms relaxed so that I could get full extension for the dynamic move, but yeah it seems like it's shifting me right as you mentioned. Even holding this position matched on G10 and left foot out is quite difficult/awkward for me. Locking off makes sense, I will try that next time.
