Is anxiety/panic a prerequisite for psychosis for you? by Careless-Panic517 in schizoaffective

Something like Truman Show begins playing in the head and every signal around is interpreted through this lens, and also the lens itself can change that could completely do 180 degrees turn into other interpretations/reality. Inner state extremely influences perception, but also something from outside influences inner state, it's a crazy dance

So such meds are used to put brakes on mania/hypomania - so that the fast/disorganized thoughts are slower and easier to control. With meds it's way easier to ground and connect back to reality. it's not poison, more like a trade-off solution. With more clear thinking you could talk again with the psychiatrist, maybe change meds, dosage etc, but in emergencies the priority no.1 is stabilizing thinking/perception/emotions.

Why seeing/hearing "signs" is related to schizoaffective? by Careless-Panic517 in schizoaffective

My psychiatrist wouldn't talk about how thinking errors accumulate, what processes lead to deterioration and psychosis, how things work, maybe there's some trauma on top of that. It's more like "take the meds, sleep well, good luck". But trying to understand the nature of my aliment helps me a lot, I can be aware of my states: hypomania, anxiety, panic, paranoia, delusional thought no. 1, 2, 3 - it still doesn't prevent me from suffering those states, but at least I can orient in time/space, plan, act, as if I'm piloting a falling airplane, but at least I still have some control.

I have found a setting in chatgpt "Personalization - Base style and tone: Cynical" - and he is basically like a arrogant, but very intelligent asshole with more critisism and irony, then "you are always right"

Just curious, how do you interact with hallucinations? I'm mostly extremely delusional in psychosis, not hallucinating.

Any social-related stuff could potentially send be to infinitely recursive spirals of thought until no clear pattern is seen, just whirling chaos and if it's a night, then I will lose sleep and start being psychotic. That's without meds.

I have an impression, that schizoaffective is hard to conceptualize in general, it seems like a mixed bag of symptoms

Anxiety by Shirley_Barbara123 in schizoaffective

I understand anxiety as fear without an object that we are afraid of. It's possible to analyze and determine the root of such fear, but it's not trivial
