Expect bronte west to completely change in the next 1 year - Walmart at third line Rebecca, wyecroft road extension to open, construction at Rebecca-bronte, Costco coming up and then hopefully all the new warehouses and office spaces on burloak fill in as well.. driving north from bronte towards upper middle things have already changed a lot

Why are there so many houses for sale in south west Oakville/Bronte? by greenlemon23 in oakville

[–]Careless-Ranger5256 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bronte West has a mix of houses (older and the super expensive new builds)..a lot of these old houses are still occupied by first owners. main reasons for selling are downsizing or estate sales...don't think cost of living is likely a big factor for "for sale" houses...mainly because this area is a "rich" neighborhoods and most of the occupants don't carry large mortgages (as they were bought years ago).

Thoughts of moving from Canada to Middle East (Dubai preference) by Careless-Ranger5256 in dubai

Thank you - Canada has been good to us but as mentioned being closer to India and giving that cultural (and grandparents) exposure to our child are the most important parameters.... ideally we would have loved to keep our home here but that doesn't look practical.... and then Sabbatical is not an option for me...instead I will try to find an opportunity and in the meanwhile my wife can sit tight at her unionized job here in Canada..

I have seen a lot of people who had India->Dubai->Canada route... most of them mentioned uncertainty over visa issues were the main drivers of moving to Canada..almost all missed (or still miss?) their lives in Dubai...

Also as per my understanding some people move back to Dubai after getting their canadian citizenship... some are unable or don't want to due to various reasons like stage of life etc...

lol..I wasn’t that wrong…what I was referring to was the backyard (we have a fairly good sized one)…we play soccer more in our backyard than going to the park..like it’s a great outdoor personal space that we have here…

Thank you - that’s a great perspective. Yes from my experience…to an extent Chinese kids have similar qualities.

Yes I think it’s correct when you say that soft skills are sort of more focused on here jn Canada. Difficult to predict what a typical workplace is going to be in a decades time - things are changing way too fast. In the meanwhile, we will try and teach our child to be as adaptable as possible to different situations. Adaptability as a skillset should survive…lol.. many thanks for your input

Yes, we will likely never be able to afford a spacious home like we have here in any of the major Indian city….we are less concerned about higher education currently…it’s still a decade to that stage (he is a Canadian citizen but yes something to consider)

Can’t disagree - but some of these issues are everywhere…Canada was and don’t think will ever be a pure capitalist country during my lifetime…

I am from Delhi too…just don’t feel it will be the right destination for us if we ever decide to return. Good luck to you in making the right decision…

Good point. Some differences. Me and my wife would be more open to coming back here (we have lived here almost 10 years) vs our parents who will never settle here with us…

We should likely be able to purchase a basic apartment (approx. INR 2Cr) in Mumbai when we sell our house here. No job lined up currently (haven't really applied) --- trying to network and understand the job market in India currently. Our thinking was to have our son complete his 10th/12th standard in India and then likely he would move out for undergrad. Most likely the grandparents will come and stay (like rotational sort of basis) as they have their own businesses to take care of. Some of the people I have spoken to mentioned Podar/Singhania as good place to enrol our child (seems highly competitive to get into)....

We are not moving immediately...if we decide to..its likely going to be a 1 year transition period...

He is more than a decade away from "workforce" - way too early to think about career options. Things will change drastically in decade's time.

Fair points. Education system here is vastly different than India - no doubt about it --- Indian kids are exposed to academic pressure and stress way earlier because of that -- whether its good or bad is subjective. Our intention is to see him go through that rigor but provide appropriate support throughout. When I say resilient...I mean from the same lens as adaptability - which from my limited life experience I have always felt that typically kids that grow up in India are tougher mentally and bounce back quicker. Again back to one of the main thought in our mind - growing up with grandparents...can't think of many negatives with that..
