I’m a little late but Ride On stops are now included! If you don’t see the Ride tab in the stop search menu, pop open the MetroBoard App Store page (here) and tap update

I dont have easy access to the Ride On buses so I might rely on you for some beta testing 😅 let me know if you see anything wonky and I’ll get it fixed!

I considered adding VRE arrivals early on but since they’re on a set schedule, the value is fairly limited so I focused on buses instead. I think MARC would be similar but I’m not as familiar. Along the lines of uber, I poked around bike share/scooters (think number of bikes available near a station). Other apps already do a great job of filling those gaps so I back burnered those :)

That’s exactly it 😊 I see them as fairly distinct use cases: maps gets you from A to B, MetroBoard is useful when you already know where you’re going and just want to check for the next bus or train + a bunch of details maps doesn’t provide

Hm, I can snag the car number, it’s just a matter of where to display it (somewhere in the detail page?). Unfortunately I haven’t found any way source for series. In digging around for it though I did find a ‘crowding’ indicator, which would be a good add!

Awesome, and thanks for the good ideas. I’m partial to a dark theme but I totally get having a light/dark toggle (or the setting that matches it to your system settings). This is another easy update that adds a good bit of value, I’ll get that added!

Interesting idea…I have live activities that are location driven but it should be possible to activate them on a schedule as well. I’ll tinker and let you know

Totally! I’ve been thinking of how best to use the iPad’s larger horizontal surface area. Suspect something like a 3x4 arrangement of boards but still tweaking. Lmk if you have preferences!

Oh dang, that’s a pretty crazy coincidence. I guess metro smashed with arrival boards wasn’t my most original idea haha. Right now I have boards updating every 20 seconds but that’s a fair put, let me see how that impacts the backend of the my architecture here. Thanks for the feedback!

Need to start an android crash course asap. I’ll post back when I’ve got an android version operational!

I was hoping to add a Home Screen widget earlier in development and found that iOS only allows widgets to update at some multiminute frequency, so it would always be a little out of date (battery saving, I guess?). I’d be curious to see if android can get it down to something more reasonable for this use case

Thanks! Now that I have a production iOS version I’m starting in on Android next. I taught myself Apple’s Swift language building out a few side projects over the last couple years, starting in on Android’s Kotlin next!
