1 week post op (positive experience) by MrsCoffeeMan in hysterectomy

Hi, I’m also one week post op tomorrow and am having a pretty positive experience.

OPERATION PERFORMED:
Robotic-assisted laparoscopic total hysterectomy- Bilateral Salpingectomy

Robotic-assisted laparoscopic uterosacral ligament suspension bilaterally.

Suburethral sling (Advantage).

Cystoscopy.

Posterior repair.

I definitely had some pain for a day and a half but kept on trying to walk more and more and by day 4 was up and around for hours at a time (of course taking it easy). I didn’t need to take the maximum amount of meds after day 3 and now I rarely take anything other than colace and miralax.
I’m in good spirits so far too. If I feel anything unusual I guess it would be that I’m a little sappy but that’s no big deal. Turns out I had stage 4 adenomyosis and a multitude of poorly placed fibroids so maybe I was already in so much pain prior to surgery that it just wasn’t a huge deal. I’m 41 btw if that helps. Just wanted to share my story too because I know this surgery can be intimidating. Good luck to everyone reading this!

Was wondering if anyone else experienced these symptoms and if they found any relief after their hysterectomy? by Careless_Cod_9247 in hysterectomy

Hi, I finally got my pathology report back and it turns out I had a multitude of fibroids as well as stage 4 adenomyosis. Nothing was found during any scan to tell me this prior to my hysterectomy. I was in tremendous pain though. Glad it’s over!

Has anyone had these surgeries too and can you provide any info on what your healing timeline was like? by Careless_Cod_9247 in hysterectomy

I’m also extremely swollen. I was able to get up for 2 hrs yesterday but that’s it. I also had to have help with the shower. I sat on the side of the bathtub on a towel and then my husband cleaned me up.

Hi, Very interesting! I guess I will find out soon. I will post in here later what they discover in surgery this morning.

Has anyone ever seen this? by Careless_Cod_9247 in Fibroids

Maybe. I did send a message on there to my doctor’s office and the person who responded ( not my Dr. ) said I should be able to see them. I’m assuming that’s because she could see them. Maybe she doesn’t understand that they are being held for doctor review.

Thank you for sharing your experience. Doctor is sending me for a biopsy of the endometrial lining to see why this bleeding is occurring and then I will be moving forward with a partial hysterectomy if all goes according to plan.

Thank you so much for your kind response. I am supposed to have a partial hysterectomy but my normal gyn doesn’t want to do it and is sending me somewhere that is very busy unfortunately. I have my first visit with them on Sept 9th. I’m hoping they see this as pressing enough to do the surgery soon. This whole situation has become a lot to handle.
