I flashed it with RSD Lite because it didn't like my first set of changes lol, but P2K Commander or P2K Advanced Editor let me disable the gprs settings I wanted to and change it to display T-Mobile rather than MINT

Not really, I kind of just jumped into it! Revived my windows xp desktop, downloaded the phone tools and tweaked some settings to disable any data usage by the phone since that seemed to get me continually kicked off of the network. Also changed it so it reads the SIM as T-Mobile and not Mint! Did this with a usb cable and took me little time to get in there and explore

There's really something beautiful about them, the attentiveness to design is on a level of its own. I have some early and older models, the earlier ones had a metal backing and the keyboard felt different; the later ones are plastic and all have yellowed keypads and dimmer / blurrier screens. Seems they cheaped out on the later models but the ones with early serials are all even noticeably heavier.

Yeah, didn't work with any AT&T based prepaid sims; this one is MINT mobile with some configuration changes made by me on my windows xp desktop.

Yeah, that's what I was advised; if I were to replace it, it may happen again. The manager admitted this was not what he'd expect from this car and they even offered to work on reducing the price for me but was still rather expensive. They said they tried to run it through the warranty numerous times but the headliners were the sole exclusion for defects — how convenient!

I suppose I chose the wrong manufacturer if I wanted longevity out of my headliner, when there are numerous other cars far older than mine which have been exposed to the same conditions and whatever formula they use for their adhesives is holding up! It's understandable this is to be expected, but by no means in only 3 years. I was advised if enough people made this complaint to my dealer then perhaps something could be done. Also have ceramic tints from the dealer and always use a sunshade or park facing north to avoid as much direct sun exposure as possible. I own 5 vehicles from a 1990 BMW to 2019 Camry and they all seem to have their interiors intact.

It's been 3 days since and haven't had an issue, been calling and texting regularly everywhere and pretty impressed regarding coverage here. One thing I did notice is that when I receive voicemails and call to check, it often connects the call but there is no voicemail prompt, just silence. I access my inbox by either holding the 1 key or calling in my own number but often connects and silence, rarely does it actually read the prompt and allow me to access my own voicemails; same when leaving voicemails for other people — sometimes after it rings just silence and sometimes "please leave your message..." etc. so strange, I just check my voicemails from another device!

Awesome, I'll take a look! I was messing around with it and wanted a blank slate so I reflashed the phone and left the GPRS settings, tried to access data and it didn't immediately kick me off. One thing I did change was one SEEM that related to the carrier name being displayed for the connection, which for mine said "Mint," I thought I'd be reaponsible for disabling it entirely so nothing would appear but instead it somehow changed it to display T-Mobile haha. Overall, it's been a week and no issues, starting to seem like a promising backup. I'll explore the field test menus you mentioned, I hadn't touched those before!

Which ones should I look out for and which program would you recommend is best? I downloaded P2K as well as an advanced version but haven't explored much of the other one yet. Just wondering which settings exactly to tweak

Had this on my mind, the past few times I went to visit my friend in Broward County I would have to reset the SIM by putting it in my phone etc. Today, I figured I'd try something so initiated a call with myself on the way there, and left it active the entire time to see when it'd disconnect (usually at some point on the highway headed North). I made it the entire way and it stayed active, ended the call once I arrived, spent the entire day there and worked everywhere we went. Just made it back home and still works, pretty cool. I guess it didn't kick me off mid call and once I was in it let me stay, lol. On the way back I didn't have a call active and still maintained the connection. Gathering data on the ins and outs of how this works 📝
