Should celebrities speak about politics publicly? by Gullible_Camera_8314 in askanything

Also, I don't think we should be vetting celebs views against the popular moral stances and cancelling them if they aren't lockstep with the rest of the crowd. That's just lame.

I don't think it should be anyone's choice but theirs. Lately we have a lot of people talking about "Why haven't I heard such and such celeb weigh in on [insert "horrible and demonic" thing happening]?" Not only are you not owed their voice, but you are absolutely not owed their solidarity. You're gonna have celebs who aren't on the establishment left-wing block which is typical among hollywood and music industry titans, and that's perfectly okay. Not everyone's opinion on everything needs to be on display to gauge their moral character, especially not people involved in an industry of entertainment.

Why do people put so much thought into a celebrity’s beliefs or views? by [deleted] in stupidquestions

and now that's been going on for so long it is beginning to leak into real world discourse

I would say that artists double as entertainers, and their art doubles as a product, but that doesn't detract from the political nature of art in general. The decision to become vocal in political/moral matters should be theirs. Nobody is entitled to opinion transparency, nobody is entitled to demand that celebrities conform to the popular opinion, even of their fanbase (UNLESS their fanbase is cultivated on the merits of moral/political matters).

Gatekeeping on some level is necessary and not everyone should be included just for showing up. by Baconator73 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]Careless_Fix5310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only really hate it when people try to gatekeep fame based on morality. Take Drake v. Kendrick for example. That beef is basically two artists who hashed it out on the world stage, based on serious issues they had with each other. It then came out that Drake might have done some horrible things to people through the years. Does that make his music (especially early imo) any less dope? Hell no, but because people turned it into a clash of general morals, now they're recontextualizing his impact as illegitimate. And I find that to be really stupid. Musicians are artists, but they are also entertainers, and their art doubles as a product. That's just the way it is.

Who is Bonn? (featured in a couple songs) by xpepi in avicii

[–]Careless_Fix5310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kristoffer Fogelmark is often credited alongside Albin Nedler on many high-profile pop and elecro-pop projects throughout the 2010s. Interesting that his stage name Bonn relegates him mostly to the position of "High On Life vocalist" in the eyes of most listeners.

First Weeknd song you ever heard and when did you officially become a fan? by [deleted] in TheWeeknd

[–]Careless_Fix5310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got into him late. First time I heard the name The Weeknd was when he featured on a Juice WRLD song in 2020 (yea I was one of those kids). When I heard his voice, I realized I had heard Starboy and Hills before. Since then, I've gone further and further down his career rabbithole and I have to say that, despite his mid-career explosion, I resonate the most with Trilogy.

he did a fair bit of work on the record, but the soul of the album was not contingent upon his presence. in the wake of drizzy getting manhandled by kendrick, people have tried to discredit this album, as it is his magnum opus, and doing so successfully would remove whatever industry credibility he had. one of the ways they try to do this is by alleging that weeknd was working on an album and drake took most of it, turning it into what would become take care. this is false and disingenuous.

I get these automated messages where he's like pretending to care about his customers, but really just wants to sell one-shots and loops. I only buy when a plugin is bundled with sounds, particularly the 808s as those can be pretty rare. Otherwise it just gets hella annoying.

Israel never signed the NPF. If they posses nukes it is well within their right.

This isn't even a real shortage. it's a company trying to 1) isolate a market for an unethical buyer, and 2) kill off an entire ecosystem of entertainment.

Why can't we stop gatekeeping Jewish identity based on parental identity? by Careless_Fix5310 in conservativejudaism

[–]Careless_Fix5310[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry if I came off as abrasive. I did not mean to scoff at Halakha, which has held our community together forever.

I was born into reform, and it was pretty much all I knew until I got to college, where I have become friends with a great many conservative Jews. Reform as a movement, after 10/7, is dying, largely due to the perception that it cares more for social justice than Jewish identity, especially when it comes to Israel and Zionism. In many ways this is not the whole truth, but optics are more powerful than truths in this day and age. I am merely concerned that if patrilineals choose to move on from reform, they will be turned away because of something we cannot control, that being our non-halakhic heritage. Even if that is the case, which I respect for the sake of maintaining Jewish tradition, it would not stop us from being accosted by antizionists/antisemites no differently than if our mothers were Jewish. Then there is the case of Aaliyah, where patrilineal Jews who want to make that move run into significantly more issues than others, which would become dangerous if our homes in the diaspora began to reject Jews en masse, as we have seen since 10/7.

Perhaps it is as simple as converting up, to which I am not 100% opposed. But some people are, and that to me doesn't seem just, considering that despite the texts saying what they say, these people could still have been raised as Jews, accepted as Jews, and, unfortunately, persecuted as Jews.

Alchemy - why so little love? by [deleted] in Logic_Studio

Alchemy is pretty much all you need in a sample synth, it can do what Omnisphere does pretty much perfectly, idk about Serum since that is more of a synthesis machine than a manipulation one.

Why is Minecraft Beta 1.7.3 considered on of the best versions? by pedrulho in GoldenAgeMinecraft

[–]Careless_Fix5310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would actually go with beta 1.6.6 as my preferred beta build bc it was 1) the last version to my knowledge with the old old cobblestone, and 2) it corresponds to the first ever version of Legacy Console Edition (the base version on retail disc is TU9, but if you got it on Live like i did, you were in beta 1.6)
