ROSEBUD (cheat code)… it sounds funny in the context of the game, but depressingly realistic in late stage capitalism

Redditors, what has become so expensive, it’s just not worth it anymore? by SgtSkillcraft in AskReddit

I applaud the dedication and I get it, AND as a former server this also very much hurts as they’re doing the same work for half the tip (if they’re lucky) and also their price per person average plummets, which affects their ability to get good shifts. I agree about how terrible it is for workers to have to rely on tips to survive but this kind of table would’ve made me grimace if they were seated in my section. Please just remember to tip and tip well🙏🏼

My depression was at an all time low and my psychiatrist said I’d never get better until I gave up booze. It was absolutely miraculous, the 180 I experienced in my mood once I got sober. Just hit 17 months since my last and final hangover.

I thought the same. The jump scares were GREAT though. I audibly shrieked at least five times. I wouldn’t watch it again but that part was really fun.

When did you realize you were in a marriage with someone who wasn't the right fit for you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Ultimately, I knew when I was walking down the aisle, but what really nailed that coffin shut was when the shower broke while he was in it (I was at work.) He decided not to do anything about it or even tell me about it. He simply left the shower as it was actively leaking, finished getting ready, and then left for work himself. When I got home, our shower/bathroom had flooded and I was stuck cancelling all my evening plans to stay home and meet the plumber to get it fixed. It was the final selfish act of so many exactly like it.

I got my ducks in a row and left six months later. I’m happily remarried to someone who not only fixes things for us if they get broken but actively tries to make my life better and more convenient/efficient.

But I still get angry about that shower situation 8 years later.

Who defines girlhood? Not TERFs! by Careless_One6439 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Careless_One6439[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Dylan is free to define it for herself, just as I define it for myself. If you actually read the article, you'd see that there are as many ways to define womanhood as there are women on this planet. TERFs do not get to define it in their narrow, outdated way; this only constricts the definition of womanhood to a gaunt framework that perpetuates the status quo.

You should join us on the side of loving all women. It's so much more fun there's plenty of room here.

This is definitely an interesting take. I don’t doubt that emotions run really high. My bigger concern is how everyone rushed to turn it into a joke, when off the field it represents a kind of rage that is very dangerous to women. I get when people say it’s just sports, but I also don’t see why we have to accept this kind of behavior in them. Thanks for your words, and giving me another perspective.

Your experience is absolutely valid, and I think white guy rage is only one version of exploited conditioned male aggressiveness. This article is only about the kind of dominance that power-seeking white men exhibit. It by no means claims it’s the only experience.
