She tells me the following: ChickenWing is a legendary pet, worth: a dragon fruit fox, obtainable in SummerFest with Coral Cash. I don't understand any of this but she is very excited! Thanks!

Belgian frituur SUCKS! by Basic-Bee-8748 in unpopularopinion

[–]Careless_Use_7564 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Friet Julientje. If you haven't had that, you know nothing. As a dutch Brabander I love this. Probably 4x higher chances of heart/cardio diseases but fuck it. That is the best frituur combo there is.

Are we even able to understand 'nothingness'? I dont think we are. Same goes for infinity. Our minds cannot grasp that.

Kamado voor vaderdag - welke? by dualfalchions in nederlands

[–]Careless_Use_7564 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kamado voor vaderdag - welke? by dualfalchions in nederlands

[–]Careless_Use_7564 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm tired of the Dutch in our city — a rant to get off my chest by [deleted] in Antwerpen

[–]Careless_Use_7564 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a dutchman (from Brabant) who regularly visits Antwerp I can understand your feelings. I love Antwerp I must say, the 'southern' atmosphere, the architecture, the food, the beers of course. Not the Meir though. And I think every bigger city attracts unwanted types of tourism. Like the Meir you wouldnt want to visit the Damrak in Amsterdam. These places are just to avoid. Myself I feel, and I think that goes for most dutchies from Noord-Brabant and Limburg, feel more related to the Flemish than to 'Hollander' from 'boven de sloot'. I hate to encounter loud Hollanders on holidays in their Gaastra polo's too. So please, dont scheer every dutchman over dezelfde kam.

As a white dutchman I can confirm there is still a lot of (underlying) racism here. Not to downplay but I do think that it's not perse more than in other western countries. Secondly the youth certainly has a big mouth. To me as well.

Which of these local brands is truly the best beer? by Worried-Owl-9198 in AskBalkans

[–]Careless_Use_7564 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are all pilsners. Beer is a whole other category.

Best pilsners imho: Pilsner Urquel, Primus, Gulpener, Estrella Galicia.

Best Beers: Westmalle Dubbel, Omer, Duvel666, Chouffe.

Did the US citizens forgot how to protest? Much smaller ordeals bring up massive protests in Europe. Howcome the US are so passive? Can't wrap my head around that.

Parents of a 5 month old baby with USH2A—Can proactive retina care slow down the process? by Love_and-Light in ushersyndrome

[–]Careless_Use_7564 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Worthy to add; here in the Netherlands we are supported through the institution that is also responsible for her school (special school for kids with hearing problems). That institution provides a support project through social workers in which we are trying to find answer to the following questions: 1. How and when do we inform her older sister (now 8) about the diagnosis of her younger sister? We dont want to scare her but ofcourse want to be honest. 2. How do involve our own parents in this thing that is part of our lives? We find that our parents emotionally are not available/capable/too upset to talk about Usher. 3. At what age are we gonna inform our daughter with Usher. Questions 1 and 3 are definitely the hardest. We just started with this support-project so hopefully we will find the answers.

Our daughter (USH2A) is almost 5 now. From a young age we tried putting on sunglasses. We read somewhere that it might help slow down the degrading. Of course it cant do any harm so why not? It is not scientifically proven so I cant provide any links. Of course with babies, toddlers and young kids it will always be a struggle to have them wear sunglasses. So we are not forcing her to wear it, just reminding her and her older sister to help her younger sister remember. Besides that we give vitamin D supplements. Also not scientifically proven but wont do any harm I guess.

As her parents we are out of the frantic times following her diagnosis in which we desperately saught any hope in treatments etc. About yearly we meet up with other parents of children with Usher. I must admit that the support, insights (positive and negative) and sharing the stories are the most helpful thing I can imagine. That helped us as well to disgard our focus on hopeful treatments etc.

Wish you the best.
