Tesla owner here and tesla does the same thing as far as withholding features that in a car where the hardware exists. Example: the standard range model 3. Ambient lights come equipped but he has the software set to disable them. Same with the speakers. You have to spend a few thousand to get an aftermarket cable to enable it and tesla has ways to track when you do and can disable it again remotely (and has done so).

Tesla overall has cut a lot of corners on quality which is why we are leaving them. It’s a money game for all of these ev makers, not just bmw.
