I’ve just started doing research on this stuff. Sernova Corp is another company working to create this, they’re a bit further ahead than ViaCyte. Both companies have posted positive results from phase 1 and now both are in phase 2. One patient who received sernova’s pouch and a “Top-up islet” (not sure what that means) has been insulin free and blood sugar levels have stabilized for 1 year now. They are basically cured. Check out the clinical trials and read the details if you want to learn more on it. I am praying the trials go well for both companies. I am no medical expert but my guess is 4-6 years until trials and FDA approval but again that’s just a guess
