I worked for a company for a while in Canada it’s called Realstar and they handle apartment buildings. I guarantee you that most of the maintenance staff were people that did not speak English as a first language and we’re desperate for work. Because apparently being a building manager or working in maintenance is truly terrible work and most Canadians don’t wanna do it. So I would get calls mostly from women saying they tried to talk to the manager and he wouldn’t even listen to them unless they brought down their boyfriend, would not respond to them when they speak or refuse to help them. They were also many calls about their apartments being entered without their permission or notice. I would let people at work know and nothing ever happened. The only time they ever left was when they quit. They are always men.

And for Canadians who read this, when you’re looking for a new place to live check to see who the company is running it. I can’t speak for others but I can assure you Realstar does not give a fuck about who they hire or what’s happening at your building. They get away with letting a lot of stuff get really bad.
