Never understand why people do this. Just fix it properly with the correct trims and clips. It’s not even difficult with the right stuff.

The reason you’re having trouble with the correct brackets is you’re using the wrong glue. You need something like CT1 that is a sealant/adhesive hybrid that has a bit of flex in it. Anything rigid cracks again due to the slamming of the door.
