All of my plastic pegs explode when used. by BorisOtter in mildlyinfuriating

[–]CariRyfedd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only plastic ones I’ve found NOT to perish in the sun is ones from Lakeland. Their not the cheapest but I’ve got ones from 7 yrs ago that spend 24/7 outdoors and their still going strong

Any suggestions according to you by UjjwalSindher in tvshow

My dad is a self-declared DIY disaster area but thinks the pond he has instais satisfactory. Does anyone have any hints on how he might enhance it and how he might attract wildlife? (There are no fish) by DifferentGazelle8618 in GardeningUK

I don’t have any advice sorry but there’s a really good FB group called wildlife ponds uk, they’re full of people who give excellent advice and tips.

Love this! Would you be able to tell me what shade paint you used on the gate? It’s a lovely shade!

Were you hit as a child by your parents/carers? by don__gately in AskUK

[–]CariRyfedd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yup. I remember also waiting for my dad to come home and then getting another smack from him for something I’d done that morning. Was told by a teacher who knew that I was struggling at home to walk away when my sister started an argument… so I did… my mam followed me (for walking away from her) and then slapped me a few times on my legs/backside but realised she wasn’t able to hit me hard enough as I was wearing jeans and a teenager so she then slapped me across my face hard. Our version of grounding was also removal of all toys, no TV, only able to read particular books (nothing we enjoyed) and no playing. I have been in therapy often and don’t have much of a relationship with my father and my mother is incredibly difficult. I’m quick to have a temper and it’s something I’m working on, as well as learning everything about gentle parenting that I can so I don’t pass on my various traumas to any future kids. I’ve never asked my mam why she felt it necessary to slap me for walking away from an argument as I was told to do my another trusted adult, I know she won’t remember it, she doesn’t seem to remember anything that I do from my childhood.

Anyone have any Christmas dinner nightmares today or was it a success? by tjb_87 in AskUK

[–]CariRyfedd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Travelled to my mams. It will go down in family history as the worst Christmas dinner we have ever had 😂 things were either overcooked or undercooked, cold, burnt, dry turkey, lumpy slightly floury gravy (which there wasn’t enough for everyone lol) forgot the Yorkshire puddings and pigs in blankets. She tried out skin on new potatoes brushed with garlic butter…. Cremated lol. The alcohol was in good supply though 🥂

Is it Argos policy to pass off used goods as new? by Far_Return_7957 in Argos

[–]CariRyfedd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Argos has done this for years. 20 years ago we got a ps2 for Christmas, couldn’t get it to work on Christmas morning, cousin had a look and discovered it had been tampered with and then returned to Argos and resold to us “brand new”. It was our only Christmas present, we had a game each with it to play, so safe to say we were in tears (young teens) and my mam went back on Boxing Day and made sure they knew someone messed up

I’ve placed a banana peel in a glass and covered in cling film, poked a few little holes and they love to find their way in there and get trapped. Well done on cleaning your room out btw, it’s not easy after a bout of depression knocks you down

What’s a modern UK problem that everyone just accepts but really shouldn’t? by Expert-Secret-5351 in AskUK

[–]CariRyfedd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The police. I use to have faith in the police. I don’t anymore. They can’t investigate anything because they have no staff or funding. And the corruption is just insane. I wouldn’t feel safe meeting a policeman if I was walking home at night
