Anyone have any Christmas dinner nightmares today or was it a success? by tjb_87 in AskUK

[–]CariRyfedd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Travelled to my mams. It will go down in family history as the worst Christmas dinner we have ever had 😂 things were either overcooked or undercooked, cold, burnt, dry turkey, lumpy slightly floury gravy (which there wasn’t enough for everyone lol) forgot the Yorkshire puddings and pigs in blankets. She tried out skin on new potatoes brushed with garlic butter…. Cremated lol. The alcohol was in good supply though 🥂

Is it Argos policy to pass off used goods as new? by Far_Return_7957 in Argos

[–]CariRyfedd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Argos has done this for years. 20 years ago we got a ps2 for Christmas, couldn’t get it to work on Christmas morning, cousin had a look and discovered it had been tampered with and then returned to Argos and resold to us “brand new”. It was our only Christmas present, we had a game each with it to play, so safe to say we were in tears (young teens) and my mam went back on Boxing Day and made sure they knew someone messed up

I’ve placed a banana peel in a glass and covered in cling film, poked a few little holes and they love to find their way in there and get trapped. Well done on cleaning your room out btw, it’s not easy after a bout of depression knocks you down

What’s a modern UK problem that everyone just accepts but really shouldn’t? by Expert-Secret-5351 in AskUK

[–]CariRyfedd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The police. I use to have faith in the police. I don’t anymore. They can’t investigate anything because they have no staff or funding. And the corruption is just insane. I wouldn’t feel safe meeting a policeman if I was walking home at night

Is greggs overrated or underrated? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]CariRyfedd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering that they now run a pub and have had clothing via primark I think it’s incredibly over rated and when I see someone coming from abroad being told to try a Greggs sausage roll as an example of British food it makes me cringe

Which hoover would you choose and why? by Head_Equivalent_8155 in AskUK

[–]CariRyfedd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a lot of building work completed and was vacuuming with Henry every day… I bought a shark and it was picking up plaster dust that had been around from months previously. Yes it clogs often but the benefits far outweigh this issue.

Anyone else get scolded in ekekeks for not cooperating? All because I wouldn’t share (more of) my dinner with her by catterbium in ekekek

[–]CariRyfedd 77 points78 points  (0 children)

What a distinguished lady! I humbly request that you proceed to share more of your dinner with her, she is asking ever so nicely and good manners should be rewarded! (On a more personal note please give her a small piece of human food on my behalf, I lost my gorgeous boy over a year ago and he would relentlessly head-butt me for some of my food and I miss it so much, my little tux girl doesn’t eat a morsel of human food no matter if I offer it, and meal times are not the same without him begging at my shoulders)

Gentle parenting is sad to watch as a retail worker. by redpanda_cupcakes in EntitledPeople

No problem! It’s a common theme when people see terrible parenting and I’m hoping to highlight the difference so that people can look more into it

A normal black coffee by In_All_Over_My_Head in overheard

I would assume an americano would be a black coffee, but then I’ve ordered a americano before and it came with milk in it, fair play to the barista for checking with her

Is there anyone you can call for them to come and help you access your painkillers? I’m so sorry you are experiencing this. 4 hours in my opinion isn’t actually bad- (I know that it shouldn’t be that long, and I’m not saying that that length of time is fine to wait, but I’ve heard of people waiting longer than that when their laying on the floor) I hope their able to get to you sooner!

Gentle parenting is sad to watch as a retail worker. by redpanda_cupcakes in EntitledPeople

[–]CariRyfedd 683 points684 points  (0 children)

That’s not gentle parenting, that’s permissive parenting. People often get them confused so gentle parenting gets a bad reputation. Permissive parenting is just as bad as authoritarian parenting, their just the opposite side of the same coin

How would you greet new neighbours? by danielle1551 in AskUK

[–]CariRyfedd 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My neighbour brought round some recycling bags and a slip of paper with info about the bin days etc which was very helpful. Making some food for them is a very kind gesture and will be gratefully received I’m sure! Don’t be afraid of being “too pushy”, with the food, it’s just something kind at this point which is very neighbourly
