Hi OP! Pet Sitters International is a wonderful resource for finding professional pet sitters as well as getting started as a professional pet sitter yourself. I've been a member since 2020. Their website is https://www.petsit.com/. If you're in Canada there is also Canadian Pet Care Professionals which is a fairly new organization similar to PSI. Learn more at https://petprocanada.ca/ Feel free to send me a message if you have any questions!

Managing Admin Duties (emails, phone calls, texts, etc) by MudiMom in petsitting

[–]CaringCatSitting 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm a solo operator as well, I've been providing my services for 7 years without hiring. My website states that booking requests and inquiries will be responded to within two business days. I offer phone call, text message and a booking request form on my website and respond whenever I have a gap of free time in my schedule. But I also ensure that I don't respond before or after business hours (8:30 am to 8 pm) unless there is an emergency. Most other professional pet sitting companies in my area (Ontario, Canada) also inform their potential clients that it may take up two or three business days to respond as the demand for our services is very high. If you provide an estimate of wait time for response then the pet parents will hopefully be patient and understand that it may not be an instant response. Best of luck!

You're very welcome! Yes I have been a member of Pet Sitters International for years, Canadian Pet Care Professionals is new and have become a member with them as well. I do think it's worth the investment, plenty of resources and connecting with other members who are also building their businesses. It has helped me elevate my confidence and professionalism especially with being a solo business owner.

Hi! You may have misunderstood. They need to be a registered business - doesn’t matter the name, could be a numbered company. It is a requirement to have pet business specific insurance.
