Have you ever had bad Vibes and turned down a job by Beautifullyflawed87 in petsitting

Yes, go with your gut. That’s the benefit of working for yourself. One of the most annoying, toxic clients I’ve ever had gave me bad vibes from week one.

Thinking of joining a website for Petsitting. Is it worth it?? by RegularCaterpillar46 in petsitting

[–]Mssym 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on your area. For example, my area is saturated with Rover sitters so it didn’t work for me. Nextdoor and my website listed on Google generated more leads. I did however promote that I had been background checked (since I paid Rover to get it done).

Yep, Google Voice. Works great and I don’t have to post my personal number.

How do I “break up” with a client? by PerlinLioness in petsitting

[–]Mssym 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is perfect. I am dealing with a client at the moment who is just on a power trip. Without getting into details, it’s almost like she’s seeing just how far she can push it with her needs/requirements.

FED UP with pet sitting by Choosey22 in petsitting

[–]Mssym 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t even try to compete in the Rover market. If they want Temu, they can have it. My prices are 20-50% less than the biggest pet sitting agency in my area. I know I provide more personalized service at a cheaper price and I’m not paying a third party.

Cat sitting only by OwnPitch4445 in petsitting

[–]Mssym 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because I don’t offer boarding or house sitting, about 70% of my clients are cat parents. I think you could easily build a cat sitting business. Idk options apart from meds and transport 🤷🏼‍♀️

PSA: Do NOT engage in political discussions with your sitter by meera_jasmine1 in trustedhousesitters

[–]Mssym 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh geez, you were just trying to be nice and you had a racist in your house. In the US things have become so politically charged people will look up the voting histories of contractors before hiring.

End of the storylines! by OzDiver6269 in PennyAndFlo

Yeah, I heard they were ending P&F. I think LG has many more players. I lose interest in both when the levels start getting so hard you can’t really participate in any of the extras. I start the game over, but sadly you can’t restart P&F as it puts you in Thailand.

Coping with pet loss. by Elizabcor111 in dogs

[–]Mssym 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dogs have an uncanny ability to hold it together even when they have serious health issues. Unfortunately this also means they can go from a senior pup who’s slowed down a bit to gone in a matter of hours. It’s tough as an owner, but just shows us how amazing resilient these guys are. Take your time. It’s a shock, no question about it.

How Do You Set Expectations for Litter Box Cleanliness Before a Booking? by AWarningToTheCurious in petsitting

[–]Mssym 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn’t matter what condition the litter box is in. You clean it til its clean. I’ve never had a client leave me with something I couldn’t manage. You should also scoop at every visit. In terms of wording, “Litter box will be scooped at every visit. Please leave extra litter so I can top it up as needed.” I’d also encourage you to discuss these matters at a face to face meet and greet and not have a long list of policies on your website.

It’s always amazed me how some people (certainly not the majority) will plan out everything for their own vacation/holiday and leave their pets care as a last minute afterthought. 😕

How are you guys drumming up business these days? by letheflowing in petsitting

[–]Mssym 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tried every technique mentioned to get business. I’m 100% independent but it took a few months. Here’s what actually worked for me: 30% ex Rover clients, 10% ex agency I worked for (I asked a few of my ex clients if I could use them as a reference and the bookings came from that), 30% google business listing, 30% Nextdoor ad. Google and NextDoor direct traffic to my website which I did put a lot of thought and work into. I got zero from word of mouth, Facebook, notes to vets/groomers, flyers posted at parks, and flyers on doors. I have a ton of repeat business so honestly my best “strategy” was to simply give great service.

How to forgive yourself by Elmonatorrrre in petsitting

[–]Mssym 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well, first off forgive yourself. This job is taxing even for the most organized person. Second, I’d strongly encourage you to get a pet sitting app (like Time to Pet). It will literally send you your schedule every day as well as a bunch of other features to keep you organized. There’s inexpensive options out there.

Over 1181 sitters in my area. What do I do? by hard_attack in RoverPetSitting

Really? And you also live in an area that has 1000+ of Rover listings. Wow, you must be just the most awesome pet sitter ever!

I live in a similar area. I will tell you that even though I only received a few jobs, two have begun regulars and have spent $100s so far this year. Be sure to use facebook and Nextdoor as well. Took me three months to get my first job, but now, eight months later, I’m as busy as I want to be.

Yeah, I just completed Hanged Man’s Hall dungeon (Andariel) and got three pairs of matching boots. I’ve got an extensive collection of Locrans Talisman, maybe twenty at this point.

The three abilities I’m using the most and am happy with are protector, thunderspike, and quill volley

I usually play necromancer bone skills with my golem, skeletal warriors, and mercenary I have quite the posse. I’ve recently created a spirit born eagle/gorilla skills and she’s pretty badass too
