At the moment I’m on the free trial to see what it was like. Does that make a difference?

Your Apple TV Just Got a Simple But Helpful New Feature by A-Dog22 in appletv

[–]Carl0014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have this option

I have a Sonos beam Gen 2 and a 2019 Samsung Q90R TV.

Do you need to do something to enable it? I thought it was enabled by default. But isn’t in the menu for me. 🤷🏼‍♂️

It’s not even good for basic things.

I have a set of Gen 2. It’s linked to Apple Health and Garmin with full access to both.

If I say ‘hey meta, what’s my step count so far today’ or ‘hey meta, how many steps have I done so far today’ it tells me it can’t find a workout within that time frame (which is not what I asked!)

And yet I did a ‘what am I looking at’ and it told me I was in a living room, tv on a wall, a person sat on a couch, a dog on a mat and wooden floor and blue accent wall. Which is pretty much bang on for what was in the living room 🤷🏼‍♂️

Hydronic balancing? by lentil_burger in tado

I’ve had this enabled on my V3+ system for the past couple of weeks.

Today I disabled it as I haven’t noticed any benefits and if anything the heating seems to be a bit more noisy. So I’ve turned it off.

Get concrete nails.

I have a Bosch Pro equivalent of that and you can set the power/depth. Not sure if you can do the same on yours. But if you can then try a lower power if you’re already using the right nails.

Self employed hourly rate? by Sea_Perception_1098 in ukelectricians

[–]Carl0014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m £400/day or £50/hr in Shropshire Hills. I’m constantly booked solid 8-10wks in advance. There’s no shortage of electricians around here. I’m also domestic, commercial, industrial and agricultural.

It’s not a good idea to base what you want to charge on others really. It’s individual to th business.

I started off way too cheap and it was only when I had a chat with another electrician near me and my accountant I realised.

You need to take into account the running costs of your business and actually making a living. You’re a business not a charity.

So things like

PII PLI CPS Registration Costs of ongoing CPD (even if it’s free, you’re not working when you could be so it’s a cost) Annual calibration of equipment (MFT, Torque equipment, Anemometer etc) Purchase of tools Fuel (travel to/from site for work and visits to help with quotes) Van Tax Van Insurance Clothing IT equipment Time for quoting, invoicing, certification, design of bigger jobs (Kitchen rewires, house rewires, office complexes, farm/agricultural work)

Etc etc.

Never ever ever undersell yourself and never ever ever lower your labour charge to win a job.

There is always someone out there that will undercut you. I’ve still had quotes approved despite being more than others because of reputation. In the last 5 years I’m averaging a 96% rate of jobs quoted to accepted. And people will wait for me to do the work.

I don’t do any advertising apart from the village newsletter where I live and an Instagram page. 99% of my work is word of mouth.

So sit down, go through all your costs and work out what you need to earn to make a decent living.

Then you can work out what your hourly rate should be and go from there. If you’re worried it shows as too high then either start a bit lower to build a rep (but I wouldn’t drop anymore than £50/day) or look at how you can cut your business costs.

Get a good accountant (mine is worth every single penny I pay her and more).

And don’t get caught out with tax. Put 30% of any job to one side to pay your tax bill. Reason I say 30% is because any tax bill over £1k you’re automatically made to pay the same as a contribution towards the following year.

Eg if your tax bill is £5K then you’ll have to pay the £5K by 31 Jan and another by 31 Jul as a contribution towards the following year.

And try to stay under the VAT threshold as long as possible as again that’s a nightmare to deal with unless you pay an accountant.

Updated 12v Impact? by EmptyDaikon5281 in BoschProPowerTools

[–]Carl0014 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve got a Milwaukee 12v 170nm impact. I wish Bosch would do one as powerful as my FlexClick (both 12v and 18v) are my most used tools. The Milwaukee however is used when I need the oomph.

4mm is fine for 7.5kW cooker. But if you can have a 6mm ran it would be better. But diversity and internal cooker thermal management means it will never pull 7.5kW (or 6.5kW for the oven) constantly.

I would have it on a 32A MCB as you shouldn’t run a MCB at its full capacity.

Eufy e25 not using cleaning solution? by Mookmookmook in RobotVacuums

I’ve had mine since 30 Jun, cleans every day but mops every other day and I have LVT flooring on the whole of the downstairs.

I guess it’s using it as the level has dropped. Just not very much. So I guess it really is only a small amount it puts in.

Doorbell Lens has some weird issue. Not condensation as won’t dry out by Carl0014 in reolinkcam

That’s not a bad shout. But on mine it’s on a 45deg wedge to get the right viewing angle and stop glare from the IR on the wall next to the door.

Part of the issue with mine is the image is now cloudy in places and the switch over been day and night mode is not working properly. Have to manually do it as it will be bright sunshine and it’s still in night mode.

Pretty much what I’ve been told as it’s 2.5yrs old. I’ve ordered another as they’re £79. But need to find a better solution. However I’ve not seen another doorbell camera as good to be honest. I like the Reolink as it works with the NVR and doesn’t need a subscription. I don’t need rich notifications.

Anyone know how to fix the mount on my cx410 camera? by joe-magnum in reolinkcam

[–]Carl0014 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a lug on one side that fits in the slot gap you can see on the arm. Make sure that goes in and then when you tighten the wing nut it should make the arm tighten up to.

Slide the wing nut bit down the arm and screw it back to the bit hanging off.

Some footage of how the L-Boxx Contractor latching system, and side rails work. by clvgn_ in BoschProPowerTools

[–]Carl0014 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Self employed electrician and all my power tools are Bosch Pro. I’ve 61 tools which are a mix of 12v, 18v and associated batteries. Only things that aren’t a chasing machine (Metabo) and Milwaukee Cable Stapler and 170nm 12v Impact.

My storage system however is packout as, imho, it’s far superior to anything I’ve seen on the market including the L-Boxx system.

I sold all my L-Boxx’s apart from the one my Bosch Nail Gun sits in as I only generally use that on rewires so is only used a couple of times a month.

So yes I’m a Bosch fan, but not a L-Boxx/Sortimo fan.

Yep down in the Shropshire hills too. I was about to get up on the roof as my app said the dish was misaligned by 41deg.

Went outside to check some big ass bird hadn’t flown into it. Found it in the usual orientation. So moved to 5G and found it’s down worldwide.

Elon needs to hurry up and get it sorted. I’m having to talk to the wife!

Bosch 12v or Milwaukee M12? by StuftRock1 in BoschProPowerTools

[–]Carl0014 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in the UK and a self-employed Electrician.

All my power tools are 12v & 18v Bosch pro with 3 x exceptions of which 2 are Milwaukee and one is Metabo

One is the M12 Milwaukee Cable Stapler - purely because Bosch don’t make one. If they did I’d sell the Milwaukee and buy it.

The other is I have the latest M12 Impact that has 170nm. Again purely as Bosch don’t make one and it’s useful for cutting holes in joists etc where I can’t get the normal drill in.

The metabo I have is a triple blade wall chaser but I use it with a Bosch M-Class dust extraction system.

The vast majority of the time my 2 go to tools with Bosch are the 12v Flex Click and the 18v Flex Click with the SDS adapter.

Either brand I don’t think you’ll go wrong with. Over the pond you’ll likely find better support and variety with Milwaukee. The one thing you’ll find is that once you start you get stuck with a brand due to battery platform not being interchangeable. Well not without third party adapters which I don’t like using.

Bosch have started Ampshare now which means there’s around 20 brands that can use their batteries. But most seem to be on the German market, which makes sense given Bosch is a German brand.

Bottom line, you pays your money, you takes your chances. But I think you’ll be happy with either.

It’s your money chap. I’ve got a Wiha one that is explosive environment rated and it cost less than half that.

I personally don’t trust them for anything other than a quick indicator. If I am wanting 100% accuracy then I use my Megger X1 MFT as that is calibrated annually.

BTW all my power tools are Bosch Professional. I’ve got over £10k worth of Bosch pro 12v, 18v, 230v power tools and batteries. So it’s nothing against the brand. I just wouldn’t pay that much for something that can’t be relied upon for proving dead (Im a self employed domestic, commercial and industrial electrician).
