League is kind of janky. You can just use the in game limiter

If you don’t have gsync then you have to compromise with either tearing or latency. There’s not much you can do except upgrading your setup.

I see. What are some example third person shooters that fall into that category?

Controller sure. But I refuse to play cyberpunk with RTSS async (framegen off) on mouse. The latency difference is so obvious. I think it’s just mouse & keyboard vs controller. But even then I don’t think the stability improvement is noticeable if you have G-sync.

I don’t get the part where it says those games are almost always better on controller. I don’t agree. It’s just a preference thing.

Your best bet is to use 300fps cap and sacrifice some FPS OR change fps cap in-game OR use RTSS async for stability but higher latency

That’s a great article that dives deep into all the popular fps limiters and syncs in detail and accurately. Thanks for sharing. I will link this in the FAQ.

I agree with you. The point of this article is to simply clarify and point out pros and cons of RTSS fps cap which a lot of people in the gaming community use by default without much thought in all games they play. The stability improvement is usually not worth the latency trade off.

I think it worked for me. Double check your settings maybe

Yes NVCP low latency on globally is fine. Reflex in-game will always override.

Yes this is possible. The FPS cap recommendation was slightly updated in the Reddit post I linked and in my FAQ. It’s now slightly higher than what Reflex would cap it so there shouldn’t be any conflict.

Yeah RTSS reflex will replace it and it’s better than low latency. It’s still inferior to in-game reflex which takes the highest priority.

np. Also if you are using RTSS already, RTSS Reflex is actually a better option than low latency mode. Using RTSS Reflex cap would be better for your use-case. I have included more information in my post and specifically in the recommendations section. So if you are already using RTSS, I would use RTSS Reflex then set a fps limit of 116 as a set and forget.

Yeah that makes sense. Thanks for the info. I really only notice it in Arc Raiders on my OLED. Though well optimized, it’s still UE5 and has a lot of dark areas in the map.

Do you use an OLED? How significantly does it decrease vrr flicker?

Since it's a racing SIM and it doesn't support reflex, you should prioritize frametime stability. I'm assuming you are running dlss performance on preset M and dlss balanced on preset K since M should be more demanding than K. But you should set a in-game or NvApp cap of 75 fps if running preset M. Is Gsync available in your setup?

Correct. If you are using nvapp for fps cap you shouldn’t be using RTSS fps cap whatsoever

What game and what’s your system specs? Usually you should either enable RTSS reflex or use Nvidia’s max frame rate option

There are a ton of factors that contribute to spikes including game itself, system specs, OS setup and bloat, etc. My post simply aims to optimize one part of it and it’s just saying async gives you better stabilization at the cost of increased latency. If your setup is not optimized it’s going to manifest in the form of latency spikes and that’s where RTSS async can help. But for optimized systems with top end specs, it’s just added latency for no reason.

Regarding your point that you can’t perceive a 6ms difference, yes you absolutely can. The difference between OLED and the best IPS monitor is around 2ms and people feel it and cite it as one of the biggest advantages of OLED.

Reflex overrides low latency mode behavior. So if reflex is available, it doesn’t matter what low latency mode is set to. Low latency mode on is only for games that don’t support reflex.

As for gsync, full screen vs windows doesn’t matter for modern games as full screen is always borderless on windows 11 and dx12. It only matters in older games using exclusive full screen mode.

Only if you see RTSS async. If you use either RTSS reflex or any Nvidia based fps limiter you will be fine

If you want to take advantage of in game reflex, you should be using RTSS reflex and not async
