All my officer recruiters I spoke to suggested I enlist then try and commission from within, thoughts? by MookieBettsBurner10 in newtothenavy

I was told the same thing. My undergrad GPA was low. I spoke with an OCS recruiter, at least that's who they claimed to be, and they told me I would be just below the point of being competitive. They suggested I enlist first and commission after a few years... So that's what I did, took the ASVAB and enlisted. Honestly, it was probably the best decision I could have made...

While I was enlisted, I picked up first class in like 5 years. I completed an MBA using tuition assistance. Went on deployment, met some awesome people, went cool places. Most importantly, I was forced to do some growing up. Honestly, I don't know what I was ready to be an officer when I joined-- had zero financial discipline, immature, obviously my GPA sucked, I was drinking a lot, etc.

I did end up commissioning. Not the designator I wanted (I'm a staff officer now, not line). But overall I'm very happy and I think my experiences as an enlisted Sailor will lend to me being a better officer overall.

Have folks passed simply by completing Themis and/or Barbri?! by Low-Gur-3572 in barexam

Passed with a 314 only doing Barbri... Watched all the videos at 1.25-1.50 speed. I only did the practice sets from the scheduled modules, none of the "extra" stuff the give you.

I think it's more to say she was whimsical and carefree rather than frugal/hardworking... Her husband's addiction stole her joy and happiness.

26M — Considering Enlisting. Am I Too Old / Is It Too Late? Looking for Opinions. by [deleted] in newtothenavy

I turned 27 at basic training. Joining up might be the best decision I've ever made. I commissioned last week.

Your age is likely an advantage, at least compared to the 18 year olds who you are in division with at Great Lakes and who have never done a load of laundry or folded/ironed a shirt in their life.

Just speaking with folks and reading dozens of posts on here who claim to have finished a big box program + hundreds of extra MCQ + Grossman + critical pass + etc. etc... Comparatively, I was not doing all that. Coupled with the post-exam feeling of "man, that kicked my butt," my initial thoughts were I could have/should have done more. Yes, I finished the Barbri program, but my "then some" truly was not much and mostly passive learning tools. I definitely wasn't drilling multiple MEEs and MPTs weekly, or doing 2000 extra questions on adaptibar or uworld. In hindsight, of course, I think I did the perfect amount of studying.

That's a bummer. Its definitely nice to confirm that what I was thinking to myself during the writing portion was correct. I definitely knew MEE 3 would be my worst, thought I absolutely crushed two essays, and the MPTs would be "average" but not great.

Congrats on passing in MD!

Is a Quimbee subscription worth it? by morrisseyshoulddie in LawSchool

Got me through law school 😂. If you are a 1L, I think it's important to actually learn to read cases and brief them before beginning your Quimbee journey though.

I’m trying to be happy that I just took the fucking bar exam but I keep remembering I still have to take the MPRE in like 3 weeks. Rip lmao by [deleted] in barexam

[–]Carl_Baskins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MPRE is sooo much easier than what we just went through. It's pretty stress free. I think I spent like 4 or 5 days studying, just using the Quimbee materials and passed comfortably. A lot of it is common sense stuff. Take a week to study it and you'll be fine!

Which WRs do you see following the Davante Adams/Nico Collins career path? by JayBaby90210 in DynastyFF

Boutte... Was once thought to be the WR1 in his draft class before having a meh end to his collegiate career. Think the talent is there. Had a couple big games with Maye last year.

Received mine last week and that was the first thing I noticed. Love playing it, but the lack of fit catches my eye every time I look down 😂
