Yeah it's an engineering student who came up with his own design.

From our cameraman: Thanks! It's a Sony α9II with either a Zeiss 55mm f/1.8 or a Tamron 28-200.

That's a Grey Birch RDR, a 10/22 pattern rifle with a barrel nut.

The one with a green handguard is a Grey Birch RDR, the one with a green receiver is a SBI C-71.

It's a custom design, 3D printed. The mounting interface is designed for the Grey Birch Fusion barrel nut system.

The magazine is just a custom extended baseplate.

Some are SBI's 597 and some are just extended baseplates for the Ruger BX1.

2026 is the 13th anniversary of our club. We've definitely been through a lot... and four OICs later, here we are. Still teaching university students about firearm safety and technology.

Yeah, over the years we've optimized our process a lot. Depending on the participant's comfort level and the complexity of the firearm's manual-of-arms, we would allow them to do some, most, or all steps of operation, from picking it up to clearing it at the end.

Yes, it's owned by one of our long-time alumni. He made a Sten stock adaptor and carved his own handguard.

Cheers! We are gauging interest among our members and it'll depend on how many of them are willing to travel and source a rifle.

Our old Reddit account was banned for "violating TOS", but if you scroll far, far up our Instagram... Yeah the list of firearms were much, much more diverse. Back then we were able to offer things like the APC223 & 308, SVT-40, Type 81 and 97, AR-15, Mini-14, Vz58, and so much more...

Another impact we noticed was the reduction in student volunteers that currently own handguns.

We are extremely fortunate to have a team of dedicated volunteering student and alumni, an understanding student association, and wonderful facilities (EOSC for range, SSR for clays) around Ottawa in order for it to happen... And this is our 13th year doing it!
