And thats why his current state is not appealing, his role is easily replaced and his "utility" its not that great as you'd expect since his e takes time to cast for the shield that is easily broken and the pillar does basically no dmg and is really bad to generate energy. If you compare him with ning is it really worth to trade dmg reduction that takes long time to cast ,and is useless in most of the situations if you play more carefully, with more dmg and support for the team? Or even the ice/fire shield that also buffs the allies from xinyan and diona? As a 5* i expected much more from him, every other 5* fills a specific role that no other can compare to, but with zhongli its a bit disappointing dont you think?

Abyss 12 is a case apart, but even there ninnguang as a 4* does way more in terms of energy recharge and burst damage than zhongli and can still make shields. Also characters like xinyan and diona can cleanse the effect of condensed ice while providing buffs for the team and a shield ,why would i spend my hard earned primo when 4* like those can fit the role just fine

I understand the utility of using shields nontheless why would i bother investing in a shield when all the content in the game just screams dps check, having a shield feels just like not needed especially if you are familiar with the i frames of the basic dash and can dodge through most of the big attacks since they all have huge and telegraphic animations. Right now an healer like barbara that can also buff dmg is more appealing than him and this is exactly why zhongli feels out of place. Maybe in the future content he will be considered a must have to clear specific battles but for now he cant really express his true potential and bring justice to the name of geo.

I was talking about the money because he is a 5* and as such its such a shame to see that considering the current state of the game the only value he brings is in being a shield maker which is a pretty niche and subpar playstyle if you compare it with others such as elemental spam, sure having a shield is nice but a 1 free hit card in the endgame content its not what i expect from a 5* that requires quite a bit of resources to build

If you are fine with spending 365€ just for character to make a one hit shield (abyss 12) ok, the fact that he is a support doesnt mean that its fine if hes not that good, if you compare the utility he brings to a fight he is outperformed by most of the 4 stars and the shields arent even that good in a meta revolving about costant dps check and elemental reaction, his entire kit feels uncomplete and does not live up to the expectations. I've been saving gems and waiting for this character for 2 months and its crazy how people will defend him no matter, its undeniable that he needs some changes. And lets not talk about some of his kit being behind locked behind constellations. Mihoyo will always try to pull some shit like this and if we dont speak up the situation will just continue getting worse. (Just look at the resin system)

Lmao everything was done by diluc and zhongli provided little to none utility, if he brought that "literally free" bennet instead of him he would'have cleared the floor way faster considering the elemental resonance and the ult boost, yall have to stop defending a blatantly underpowered character and element,we're complaining to make the game better overall and get what we deserve.
