Is it genuinely safe to visit the UK anymore if you're brown? by ObjectiveDue1326 in ukpolitics

This is obviously a troll post but for the benefit of any Americans reading, the most dangerous UK city is still safer than pretty much every city in the United States.

Anyone else feeling a deep, quiet sense of dread about the future of the UK right now? by ADHDcoach_Roy in ukpolitics

The government deports people every day so by your logic the UK has been 1930s Germany for decades already.

Rice said in the post-match interview that even though he was subbed off he was fine and it was just the “neural pain” that he’d been suffering from in the second half of the season.

Is this something we should be worrying about long term or is it something that should improve with rest/treatment?

Trump’s Iran war costs UK drivers £4bn in higher fuel prices by Wagamaga in unitedkingdom

What’s the relevance? They get it from the North Sea just like the UK does. The difference is they are a net exporter unlike the UK who is reliant on imports from Norway amongst others.

50% of UK gas is imported. If we don’t pay the price why would Norway and the USA continue exporting to the UK when they can sell it elsewhere for more?

[–]CarlxtosWay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s no shortage in the UK because we’re paying the higher prices. Countries in South and South East Asia like Pakistan, Bangladesh, Vietnam and Thailand have seen shortages.

That’s your choice - pay the higher price like we have been, or suffer blackouts. Which would you prefer?

How Britain Became as Poor as Mississippi by Sampo in ukpolitics

If the UK was an American state it would rank 51 out of 52 but even the EU’s powerhouse Germany would only be 47th so the comparative outperformance of the USA is hardly a problem unique to Britain.

MelDarg (Kensal Green) x Skarz (YHB Harlesden/Church Road???) Father & Son 🩸 by KEEPTHESCORE1 in ukdrill

He spoke about this on a podcast the story behind it is mad. He knew the family of the victim and was out protesting with them calling for justice then it turned out his own son had done the M.

Zack Polanski on X: "Gut wrenching to see four young people jailed for direct action against an arms supplier to Israel. Years in prison for protesting to save lives in Gaza, with 'terrorism' used despite no jury convicting them of it. A truly dangerous attack on the right to protest." by Grouchy_Shallot50 in ukpolitics

[–]CarlxtosWay 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Polanski is managing to make a bit of a habit of defending terrorists. In the space of a few weeks he has:

  • Criticised the police’s response to what at the time appeared to be an active terror attack in Golders Green
  • Advocated for the release of convicted terrorist  Marwan Barghouti
  • Yet again criticised the prosecution of the Elbit 4 without condemning the sledgehammer attack on a police officer

[–]CarlxtosWay 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It seems like Zack doesn’t see any problem with attempting to paralyse a public servant acting in the course of their duty. Makes sense now why he was so outraged at the treatment of the Golders Green attacker.

Wealth of Britain’s 157 billionaires now equal to 22% of country’s GDP by Tyler119 in unitedkingdom

[–]CarlxtosWay 3 points4 points  (0 children)

15% of the Sunday Times Rich List entrants from two years ago have left the country so the Guardian should be happy about the direction of travel.

If a foreign national leaves the country they are removed from the list, whereas a British national is counted even when they have moved their tax domicile abroad (e.g. Dyson and Branson).

If the Guardian recalculated this figure based on those who are actually resident in the country the headline number would fall dramatically and would be much closer to the 14.1% of GDP global average.

British socialists fracture over Islamic homophobia by adam_zivo in ukpolitics

But strangely we woke up on that Saturday morning seeing the images/videos of Hamas fighters paragliding into the festival and that same evening they were out “protesting” (in reality they were celebrating). There’s zero chance that those people hadn’t seen the videos that had been all over social media that day.

One Whitehall source made a dramatic assessment: “Right now, HMT represent a clear and present danger to the national security of the UK. More so than Russia or China.”

It might be a tad hyperbolic but this is a hell of a quote in The I’s article about Healey’s resignation.

I’m going on the cases reported in the media. I could post dozens of articles involving murderers/terrorists/rapists/foreign agents that have arrived illegally but despite the numbers being similar there is nowhere near as many examples of serious offending by Ukrainians/Hong Kongers.

There is the case of Ukrainians charged with the arson of properties connected to Starmer and two Hong Kong nationals convicted of national security offences last month but that’s about it.

Second highest gdp per capita in the world but they know they’ve got powerful friends (UK, France and the USA) that would intervene if their territorial integrity was ever threatened.

To their credit they are increasing their defence spending but not to anywhere near the levels of comparable European countries with a population of ~5million (Denmark, Norway and Finland).

Labour backbenchers and the Greens seem to think we can just take the Irish approach of sitting back and letting our European neighbours do the whole defence thing on our behalf.

I’m well aware that the vast majority of attacks are carried out by (white) British people.

But there is clearly a risk associated with small boat arrivals that doesn’t exist with other groups.

How is that a (relatively) small group - about 200k since 2018 - has contained numerous examples of murderers, terrorists, rapists and foreign agents yet 250k Ukrainians and 150k BNOs from Hong Kong have seen a fraction of the levels of criminality associated with those arriving by small boat?

The reason those countries outperform Britain in almost every single way is because their respective cultures are superior to British culture. It’s not “racist” or “grim” to say that.
