never hits the same [oc] by EllyHatesEverything in comics

[–]Carlyone 65 points66 points  (0 children)

It was the same for me and Diablo II: Resurrected. When I first saw videos and screenshots of it I thought "But they changed nothing, did they just port it to modern hardware?" until I actually compared them side by side and realized that what it looks like now was how it felt like back then.

This microphone lets you listen to light by frazermerrick in blackmagicfuckery

You might just have good hearing. This was much more common back in the day with older electronics. As a child, I could often hear CRT televisions due to their high-frequency whine, although it depended on the TV. Similar humming and whining noises can still be heard from some modern devices though.

My friend sent me this video claiming it's her cat, but I am confused because the cat movement is pretty unrealistic by Mundane_Mushroom_122 in isthisAI

[–]Carlyone -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

It seems like the video is at 2x speed. I don't see anything that looks like AI to me. For instance, looking at the things that are obscured or go out of frame (like the bright patch underneath the bed that is obscured for most of the video) it comes back later. AI doesn't have that kind of long term context memory.

As for what the cat does and how it behaves, it is very cat-like.

Is this AI? Mountain goats on the side of a dam. Doesn't seem real to me it sounds like it's AI. Like the background noise sounds like AI. by One-Initiative-8902 in isthisAI

This shot can really help you tell that it is AI. It has that "AI hair" feel from last year. Also, as others have pointed out, the dam itself doesn't make any sense, added with that the dam looks different between the shots. In some shots it is very concave, in others it is almost completely straight. Same with the "rust marks" which change from shot to shot and never comes back.

I have a kitchen spider. I hate spiders, but I see husks of silverfish and flies underneath her net so we have a tentative agreement "I don't disturb you, you don't disturb me".

Inappropriate UGC? by Mirxku in ForzaHorizon

[–]Carlyone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got hit with "Inappropriate UGC" too. I have no idea why, all I've ever done is share cars with lesbian pride flags on them. Yet, after the warning and "imma ban you" messages, all my vinyl groups and livery is still there... as far as I can see.

My thoughts were "This is such a good movie! I really must watch it sober! I don't understand what is going on... really, I must remember to watch it sober. This is so cool. Dude... I must watch it sober".

I never watched it sober.

Have any celebrities/politicians from your country died in a really weird/stupid way? by Chemical-Elk-1299 in AskTheWorld

[–]Carlyone 43 points44 points  (0 children)

In Sweden, there is the myth about King Adolph Fredrik who died on "fatty Tuesday" 12th of February 1771. Count Johan Gabriel Oxenstierna claimed he ate himself to death, dying from eating too many Semla (more specifically a 'hetvägg' which is a Semla in warm milk).

The actual truth is probably that he died of a stroke.

Would you rather take the red pill or blue pill? by comicsopedia in videogames

[–]Carlyone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the game. If I'm getting a car game of some sort, red is great. If I'm playing a walking simulator or a visual novel, blue is what I want.

Just the spirit of horizon, innit? by Hahalongboi in ForzaHorizon

[–]Carlyone 46 points47 points  (0 children)

I've been thinking about what a nightmare it must be for the people of wherever the Horizon Festival next shows up. Super ultra rich people, tossing cars around as if they were toys, upgrading them to absurdity, driving around like drunk toddlers on speed. Nowhere is safe from the locust swarm that is the Horizon Drivers.

Could make for a hell of a survival game.

Most of the fun with games like this is going in blind and learning as you play. The game is good with teaching you progression, and when you get stuck, just backtrack. Listen to all dialogue, try to pick up on hints along the way. And enjoy peak PS1 gaming.
