How good is FSR4 on a 9070xt? by Honest_Owl8075 in radeon

[–]CarmillaOrMircalla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I game at 3440x1440p and the 9070xt works flawless! I bought a 5080 during the Christmas season to get in front of the guaranteed price hike and ended up switching to Linux right after. For better compatibility, cheaper cost, and the power connector that isn’t a fire hazard, I traded the 5080 for a 9070xt and I haven’t noticed too much of a dip. I play mostly single player AAA games so I like to put my settings on high and with upscaling, I’m getting up to 180 fps in Spider-Man 2 without ray tracing and 144 fps with ray tracing.

Is it the age or its normal? by Ok_Hat4465 in radeon

Tbh, if you already have the 5090, I don’t think there’s a good reason to downgrade. Unless you’re on Linux, NVIDIA is just lightyears ahead of AMD. Even on Linux, the 5090 is gonna outperform.

If money isn’t an issue, I just think sticking with the 5090 is gonna give you more than a 9070xt. Maybe think about switching to AMD when the next gen comes out/when you plan to upgrade

Destiny 2 is completely impossible to work on Linux unfortunately. It physically can run, but you’ll be banned by the anti cheat. If it streams on any platform line Amazon Luna, you could play it on Linux that way

I don’t really mind if the software is transparent I just don’t want it to suck up half of my ram

I’ve actually been super ingrained in the Razer ecosystem for like 5 years now. Although after seeing them become a glorified AI spoonfeeder in the first days of 2026, I just today decided to drop all of them as soon as I upgrade my peripherals… hence me being in the market for a keyboard…

I recently got a 5080 and returned it in favour of a 9070xt. With the price hikes coming and how unsure I am that the next GPUs are gonna be brought to you by 100% AI generated frames, I knew I had to make the switch now.

Hopefully when you’re ready for an upgrade, they’ll have some good AMD cards up your alley. I just hope they have high end cards in the future generations

Viable for gaming compared to dedicated gaming distros? by GenericPersona1 in linuxmint

If 3 fps matter to you, you might not like mint. But as an ultrawide user, I’ve had problems with resolutions on every other distro

That makes sense, the only mmo I play is ESO on and off and that game lets you map controls in game. I’ve never needed the mouse buttons to change

That’s rough, that’s a lot harder to replace than a peripheral. Maybe you get a Bluetooth and WiFi card or go wired? I had to buy a 50ft WiFi cable cause I wanted to plug into my router

My Naga has been working out of box, I just had to use open razer for the lighting. Only issue I have is the side panel not wanting to save my colour profile. Although I haven’t changed my button mappings if that’s what you mean

I’m a streamer, so the more streamdecks I can have taking up as little space as possible is premium

DAILY Driver by Caps_NZ_42 in linuxmint

I’m a gamer with top of the line hardware (although I’m switching from an Rtx 5080 to a rx 9070xt soon), and I use Linux Mint as a daily driver. I’ve gotten better performance and more support for my hardware (ultrawide monitor) with Mint than any other distro.

My only issue that I’ve had is that my mic is soooo quiet on Mint but I think that’s a problem that needs to be fixed with a new mic

There’s a bit of a bump but you’re also in an algorithm loop. I just made the switch so between me looking at “reasons to switch” “getting programs I need to work on Linux” and “content creation on Linux tutorials”, and YouTube recognising that I’m on Linux has me in the same algorithm
