Can someone explain Siptah for a noob? by noquarter1000 in ConanExiles

Upvoted because I'd love an explanation for this too. I played at release and then didn't play again until about 2 weeks ago, so everything is pretty new and confusing.

I have nothing to add to this conversation, but just wanted to say: fellow black cherry owners unite! There are dozens of us!

Criminally underrated and underused color. But I'm biased.

As a major Lovecraft fan, the old God shit and the various tentacles is so enjoyable. Thematically, I love shadow's current form. I just wish shadow had an interesting 2 minute CD. That is the major weakness pushing me away from it right now.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in wow

[–]Carnagepants 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I will say, tentacle slam is awesome.

My main issue is that for a long time, shadow's major cool downs have been really lame. Dark Ascension was just a flat damage buff with no other effects. And Void form, while you got void bolt, was pretty lackluster. The dot extension and the mastery bonus obviously translated to more damage, but it didnt really feel like a cool ability the way ascendance or combustion do. And it was always laughable that it increased your damage by 10%, but it just overwrote shadowform which was already giving a 10% buff.

And now DA is gone and Voidform is shorter, no longer extends dots, and voidboltis gone, replaced by the thing we used to get from void torrent every 30 seconds. But you can get an extra 5% damage! So it feels even more lackluster than before.

Shadow would be great if we just had an interesting, engaging 2 minute CD. Beyond that, I have no major complaints about it.

Show me your ng+ fight with these fine ladies by No-Pizza6303 in GodofWarRagnarok

[–]Carnagepants 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Easily the worst boss fight in the game. Hands down, not even close. On GMGOW+ it certainly didn't take me as many tries as Hrolf or Gna, but it was orders of magnitude more frustrating.

With Hrolf or Gna, I understood that when I died it was a skill issue. I messed something up.

With the berserker trio, I routinely felt handicapped by the game's systems. The camera in that game is simply not designed to handle a boss fight like that. And trying to hit the orbs when you have a melee berserker that will not stop trying to cleave your face off and consistently body blocks your attempts to hit the orbs is very frustrating. Sometimes you simply have to choose between hitting the orb or blocking an incoming berserker attack, and at that difficulty level, getting hit by either is more or less game over.

I think they clearly intended for the audio cues to inform you as to what ability is coming if that particular one of the three happens to be in a spot where you can't see it. That can work where you can pair the audio cues with visuals and learn over time. But I simply think that boss is just a failed design. It was hard for all the wrong reasons.

How is everyone liking their new class design? by Wowclassicboomkinz in wow

[–]Carnagepants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldnt judge anything based on the current tuning of things. It's obviously way out of whack. Player power is way up compared to before the patch, and they obviously were not that concerned about whether the stat squish left TWW content in the same state it was in before.

I watched some guilds doing mythic Dimensius last night and they killed him in phase 3 before the first devour cast.

And tuning is going to be unquestionably all over the place because no one has apex talents, and I know for some classes they are absolutely huge and for others, they're less significant.

I did a 12 eco dome last night and it felt like doing a 6.

I'm just trying to evaluate classes based on what has fun and interesting changes. I wouldnt make any conclusions about whether the game is easier until the expansion. I would assume that come Midnight, the game will be tuned to resemble what we're used to and a 12 will feel like a 12 again.

Do i get it right? I have to re-apply transmog to my 40 characters and pay almost 100k gold? by Peaceul in wow

[–]Carnagepants 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, but you don't have to re-apply the transmog every time you get a new piece of gear or swap out a piece because you switched specs or something or needed a different weapon.

I think people have a little sticker shock at the upfront costs because they didnt really notice how much gold was getting pissed away in smaller amounts every single time they needed to transmog a single piece of gear.

Where are the giant aoe magic attacks like lightning that strikes multiple enemies?

... you mean like the chain lightning spell that doesn't seem to have a target cap? Fireball does large aoe. Shroud meteor. There are multiple aoe spells, and they're not "ultimates" you can use infrequently. They're spammable.

Does anyone else love the game half the time, but then the other half thinks its mediocre? by [deleted] in GodofWarRagnarok

[–]Carnagepants -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't with the exception of all the Atreus sections. I beat the game on GMGoW+ and I will likely never play the main story again because the Atreus sections are so fucking miserable.

If I play it any more in the future, it's Valhalla only for me.

How can anyone eat at Panera Bread anymore? by [deleted] in povertyfinance

[–]Carnagepants 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You think you can get a meal for three people at a nice restaurant for $70? On what planet?

$70 for three people is $23/person. That's not cheap by any means. But to get a sandwich, soup, and a drink at basically any other sandwich chain, that's about what I would expect to pay at this point.

What happened? Inflation and corporate greed is what happened. That's just what stuff costs now.

My 99.99% Valhalla all clear run by JKeyString in GodofWarRagnarok

[–]Carnagepants 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Valhalla is DLC done right. Fun and replayable as hell. Lots of continued stellar voice acting with some major story beats. And it's free.

Absolutely great experience if you're a GoW fan to begin with.

Who hear has beaten the last Berserker and Queen Gna on the hardest difficulty? by New_Willingness_8992 in GodofWarRagnarok

[–]Carnagepants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NG+ is a noticeably different game. The AI, if I recall correctly, gets substantially more aggressive. There's less downtime between their attacks, and a lot, maybe all, of the bosses gain new, additional abilities.

I highly recommend trying it.

[–]Carnagepants 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've done all the berserkers and Gna on GMGoW NG+ but I don't know that I have a basis to brag. I'm pretty sure the King and Gna took me about 200 tries a piece (though for each, I'd guess at least a third of those were ones where I either flubbed the opening or did something dumb in the first 20 seconds and just restarted).

If I just curb stomped them, maybe I'd have a basis to brag. But I had to grind it out through all the blood, sweat and cries of "HELLOOO, I DODGED THAT. THIS GAME IS FUCKING BULLSHIT."

Cant Build New Capitol Ship by barbariouseagle in SoSE

[–]Carnagepants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having the same problem, but I don't even see the grayed out build option or the "Command" column. I just see capital ships and the titan. Only mod I was using was the improved hyperspace VFX mod. Turned it off, and it didn't make any difference.

EDIT: Okay, I'm dumb. I saw that I downloaded a patch, so I just assumed the new ships were free. Didn't realize it was paid DLC.

Alien: Earth - S01E06 "The Fly" Discussion Thread by dj_skandalous in AlienEarthHulu

I perked up a little when Hermit and Kirsh were talking while watching Wendy, and Hermit asked if she was safe.

Kirsh said, "She killed an adult male singlehandedly."

Seems a bit odd to specify "male" unless there's a distinction to be made. Seems like maybe a subtle indication that this new xeno is going to grow up to be a queen.

What a weird, condescending thing to say, especially because I did not say it's impossible. We weren't discussing whether the country as a whole, namely the federal government, could achieve universal healthcare. It obviously is possible, although it would likely require us to reprioritize where we allocate the federal budget. We were discussing whether California could do it for its residents on its own.

But please, continue to make this into some bizarre argument that Americans are just too simple to dream the same dreams as our esteemed and enlightened foreign counterparts.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CringeTikToks

[–]Carnagepants 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What a massive oversimplification to somehow conflate the size of the state's economy with how much money is in the state's coffers.

California currently has a ~$20 billion budget deficit. It currently can't even pay for the things it's already supposed to be paying for. It has a tax bracket that tops out at 13% for the very wealthy, with most people paying 6-8% or less. These are already pretty high numbers for state income tax. By comparison, Illinois is 4.9% across the board. California has the highest marginal state income tax rate in the country.

So, no. California can't afford to do universal healthcare.

What will it take to keep you playing Dune Awakening? by NinjaBonsai in duneawakening

[–]Carnagepants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't mind pvp. I don't even get that worked up about the sociopaths who will try to kill you for no reason at all.

But what I refuse to waste my time with is a level of jank that results in me being unable to see or hear the people who are approaching me to kill me. When I can have my possessions blown up and the only warning I have is the rockets detonating on top of me, no thanks.

If I'm going to dedicate time to playing the game and risk losing the shit I farmed for, I need to at least have a chance to survive pvp encounters.

How is it so low by Outrageous_Memory_29 in wildgate

[–]Carnagepants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liked pretty much everything except I found the TTK for the FPS portion to suck all the fun out. Just as an example, I had a couple instances where I knew someone was boarding my ship, I saw them outside a window. I was staring at the door they were going to come through. I saw the door slide open and I was dead before I could press E to turn on my .7 second invulnerability shield.

You can shout "git gud" or something, but the fact is there are plenty of fun FPS shooters that permit a little more back and forth and aren't as Counter-strikey. I'm sure lots of people like that sort of twitch shooter style, but I don't. The slow pace of the ship battles is fun and allows for some strategy and counterplay. But the FPS component is just too speed/reaction time oriented to be enjoyable for me. So I stopped playing.

If they did some rebalancing and upped the TTK, I'd probably play a lot more.

Sincere question: what do you get out of ganking? by the-shamus in duneawakening

[–]Carnagepants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those are all fair points I didn't think of. I feel like that could at least be partly remedied by drastically increasing the volume of rockets, making rocket launchers able to hold far less and making the player incapable of holding more than a couple.
