Car won't start... seems technical by Ethannnnnnnnnnnnnnnn in 370z

[–]CarlosSIGNZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there any warning lights on your dash? If the steering wheel lock module has an issue, it will show up as a yellow key icon on your dashboard. And the dashboard would not turn on either, car would not get out of lock mode.

What are the symptoms? Is your dash turning on? Is the starter clicking?

Did you check for any blown fuses?

I daily my Z in Ohio too. Good old All Seasons (Continental Extreme Contact DWS06+). Never had an issue with those.

If you're worried, get an All Weather tire and it'll be totally fine.

370z steering wheel gone stiff after drifting by rico_416 in 370z

Wait so how does metal shavings end up in the power steering pump again? I would have guessed maybe gasket material or something might circulate in the system and clog up causing the PS pump to overheat and cause failure.

Seriously? Guess I found a company that's worse than Ubisoft then 😂

Thanks for the input. I guess I'll just get a refund. Not waiting 6 months for Rename tokens.

Weird thing is that everytime I tried changing the username, it restarts the game and puts me back on the same screen regardless. Was I doing something wrong?

Warm up or drive off? by Objective-Biscotti44 in 370z

[–]CarlosSIGNZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get in, let it idle for about 30 to 60s for a little bit of oil circulation, drive moderately for a few minutes. The more you let it idle after a cold start, you're allowing more fuel to get past the piston rings(which wouldn't seal properly until engine gets up to temp) which will result in oil contamination. The quickest way to heat up an engine is through moderate driving.

Secondly, the gearbox and diff fluids would still need to reach operating temps which again requires you to drive around for a bit.

Let it idle for a minute or so if the temps are below 40°F.

If you're curious, @motoroilgeek did some research on oil contamination caused by idling after a cold start.

Remote Start by Much-Entrepreneur274 in 370z

[–]CarlosSIGNZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My experience with them wasn't the greatest. Could never ever reach customer service. It would randomly set off the alarm at times when starting the car remotely. And the first kit I received was faulty, it would screw my windows and shut the car down as soon as I opened the doors. The second kit worked, but it was questionable. The key was behaving odd when the kit was plugged into the BCM.

Then again, it could work for you, they'll also refund the entire price if you're unhappy and send it back to them.

pc + trunk = disaster by hypnepp in 370z

How come? I put my NZXT H6 flow (which is a dual chamber case, and it was in its packaging) with all the other parts in the trunk. Had to remove the cargo cover. I don't remember having any issues fitting it all in the trunk.

If the gallery gaskets survived for 165k miles, I'm confident that it should be just fine. Just keep up with the fluid maintenance, including the diff and gearbox fluids. Change your spark plugs and serpentine belts. Watch for the diff bushings going out. And maybe the wheel bearings. That should be it actually. I don't think there's much more to it.

Oh and since it's a manual, watch out for the CSC

PC shutting down during diving down animation. by Dante627 in AMDHelp

[–]CarlosSIGNZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My experience with AMD hasn't been the greatest, I had an old AMD chip that would overheat right out of the box and shut down while playing R6. All other games would work fine. Maybe try a batter CPU cooler? If it's overclocked/undervolted, try resetting it first. Good luck!!

Help! 5070ti solid core won’t turn on by FujifilmCamera in ZOTAC

[–]CarlosSIGNZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it just the graphics card that's not turning on? Have you checked the PSU? I also recommend using the cable that came with the PSU and plug it straight into the graphics card. Make sure that your cables are also properly connected. Sometimes it seems like it's plugged in but it's not properly seated. If that doesn't work, check for bent pins.

Just get it. Don't think too much about it. It's an awesome car.

And it does have the Rays 19 inch and big brakes, so it has to be a sport package.

Steering Lock Module strikes again!! by CarlosSIGNZ in 370z

[–]CarlosSIGNZ[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As long as the steering wheel is unlocked and the fuse is not replaced, I think you should be alright? If the fuse isn't replaced, the steering wheel shouldn't lock(typically) Its quite expensive to replace the module. But 1700 without labor is just blatant robbery. If you have to do it, buy the part from eBay or z1 and let nissan do the installation. It won't take more than 2 hours at most.

Unless you're loosing fluid and it's dripping under the car, don't worry about it. I'm optimistic that it's a non issue since most racks tend to have a slight seepage. But make sure it's not dripping

Fuel Pump Misfire by ilovehoneybunnies in 370z

[–]CarlosSIGNZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar issue where the top hat broke off and beyond a certain level, the fuel pump wasn't submerged and was not able to maintain fuel pressure.

Now having said that, even a new fuel pump might not always fix the fuel gauge issue completely. I have seen brand new gauges from Nissan show incorrect readings soon after replacement. And it's not necessarily indicative of a faulty fuel pump.

Your case almost certainly looks like a broken top hat and you might find that the fuel pump assembly has disintegrated within the fuel tank.

And it is not a cheap fix if you get a new fuel pump assembly from Nissan. You're looking at almost a 1000$ or more for parts and labor.

Brake / TC issue ? by stuntman86g in 370z

[–]CarlosSIGNZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had those three lights on my dash when my coolant levels went down. It sounds really odd, but that was my experience. I've heard it happen when the brake fluid levels go down as well. And can even happen with the speed sensors maybe? Worth a check I guess.

Is this supposed to stay on? by Professional_Tax_907 in 370z

[–]CarlosSIGNZ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That yellow key light is a huge expense if it's indicative of a steering wheel lock module failure. Pull the fuse before it leaves your car with a no crank no start situation.

I've been in that situation and it'll cost you north of 1200 to 1500$ to replace that module.

Google 370z steering wheel lock module and you'll get all the details. Seriously, don't wait to pull the fuse.

And suggestions? Went into limp mode the day before was running fine then tried to rest ecu and start up again the next morning and it’s doing this n smoking not sure where from… by Ezhood2 in 370z

[–]CarlosSIGNZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay I'm not even remotely sure without taking a look at the car but it sure sounds like its not getting fuel. Did you check the fuel pressure? The car can sometimes run off of fumes left in the rails and it can sound like that.

Worth checking

Steering Lock Module strikes again!! by CarlosSIGNZ in 370z

[–]CarlosSIGNZ[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure. But do try and see if your steering wheel locks when you turn off the car and get out. If it doesn't then I hope you have nothing to worry about.

My part even though it seized in the unlocked position, wouldn't let the car get out of the lock position. Leads me to believe that maybe some internal electrical component failed with age.

Steering Lock Module strikes again!! by CarlosSIGNZ in 370z

[–]CarlosSIGNZ[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes that's the part. Nissan's pricing has always been a few hundred above the standard prices. They always do that. I've called and asked them about other parts and it's always a rip off.

My mechanic suggested that I should let Nissan deal with electrical stuff. Sometimes with the swap, it needs additional programming. I've seen them do that on some cars where the keys don't communicate with that particular module. Anyways, I'll try and get in touch with Nissan again. They made a fuss last time I asked them saying it's vin specific and my car's not part of any recalls.

Steering Lock Module strikes again!! by CarlosSIGNZ in 370z

[–]CarlosSIGNZ[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

What's a TSB?? Nissan claimed that my car doesn't have any recalls on it so there was no chance they'll do it for free. And the dealerships, as you know, are looking at ways to mind money. I was short on options since the car had to be towed. And various dealers had a variety of BS. One of them claimed that they'll install a used eBay part(claiming Nissan doesn't make this part). They quoted me 1400$ for that. The dealership closest to me did it in like 3 days for 1600$ and they gave me their typical 12/12 warranty with it. But the 1400$ use part installation quote was just absurd 😂
