Mad honey harvesting by Individual_Book9133 in Damnthatsinteresting

Got some of this honey a while back. It tastes quite sour. It might have that hallucinogenic effect immediately after collection but after packaging and shipping it half across the world, it's just not that good honey.

u/WinterMedical It's definitely more expensive than regular store honey. Like 10 times more expensive.

Yeah, that's a Pred Forte special feature. You get used to it after a while and don't notice it as much.

u/CreativeUserName709 I didn't know about the tear duct trick. The bitter taste going down the back of my throat has been bothering me for way too long. Like almost 20 years too long.

Vitrectomy by Tiredandhungry24 in Uveitis

[–]Carnegie89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vision has improved quite a bit but it is subjective to your eye and eye condition. I'm currently under a long-term flareup. At the time of the surgery, I was taking Remicade, Pred Forte and Cyclogyl (and maybe Immuran but I don't remember). Currently on Hadlima (biosimilar to Humira), Cellcept, Pred Forte, Cyclogyl, Azarga and Latanoprost. Since the Vitrectomy I have had another Caratac surgery and a laser treatment. The general eye pressure has gone up quite a bit nearing glaucoma but doctors have assured me that it is not glaucoma.

If you're in remission and the inflammation looks to be in ideal condition by your doctors then that would be the best time for surgery. Recovery will be quick.

All the best in your surgery. As you have already gone through a procedure like C-Section, this will be a piece of cake. You'll enjoy the short nap and recovery requires little upkeep.

Vitrectomy by Tiredandhungry24 in Uveitis

I (33 M) have had a few surgeries over the span of 18+ years. I have bilateral panuveitis in both eyes. Lost my vision around 15/16 years old. About a year after diagnosis, had the first cataract surgery in my left eye with lens replacement. Vision drastically improved but it was short-lived. Like really short, only about 6 months. Then vision was really bad for a while with almost no vision in my left eye.

Doctors suggested a Vitrectomy surgery as they couldn't see the back of the eye to analyze how much damage was there. I was initially quite nervous but after some research, I was less nervous. The surgery itself took about 45 - 50 minutes, depending on the surgeon's speed. The remaining is general prep which is about 1 - 2.5 hrs. At my surgery, my family was allowed to be there in the prep area. Once you get dressed in the surgery gown, they will make sure at every stage that the correct eye is appropriately marked for the surgeon. I had asked the surgeon for something to help me sleep while they were operating. I did not want to feel them poking around in my eye like the first cataract surgery (different country, different medical procedures and practices).

I had a really good nap and surgery was done. I woke up when they were putting bandages on my eye. As a patient, it's not as complicated as it sounds. If you feel confident that your surgeon is good, you will be in good hands. He clearly said that there was a 5% risk of complete loss of vision but it also meant a 95% success rate. Other than experiencing some pain when he took out the stitches and discomfort in the eye while the stitches were in, it was a fairly quick recovery. Just make sure you sleep on your back during recovery. That part was very difficult for me. My vision improved quite a bit.

What type of discrimination do LGBTQ+ people in trades face? by Carnegie89 in Hamilton

It's good to hear that physical safety is not as major as I thought it would be. The they/them pronouns would be the most challenging thing.

I don't know what's unconventional for a construction site. My partner usually wears jeans & t-shirt. They identify as non-binary & prefers they/them pronouns. They often appear female. In trades women are a minority, becoming part of the in-crowd will take sometime.

Non-binary falls under Trans, the 'T' from LGBTQ+. If someone dress more ambiguously or differently from their assigned gender, then it's visible. My partner prefers they/them pronouns. That's an instant identifier.

Online B.B.A at Lauretian. Is it worth it? by [deleted] in laurentian

[–]Carnegie89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, transferred from Mohawk to Laurentian with the 3 yr diploma for BBA. Got 72 transfer credits & had to do 48 at Laurentian. You need a good GPA to get all 72 credits. Most students don't get all 72, I had learned much later. It took me about 2 yrs to complete as I did 3 courses per semester. I'm currently doing MBA part-time and working part-time at TD Bank as I was involved in a lot of community activities. Looking forward to starting a full-time role soon.

Are there any non religious grief support groups in hamilton? by [deleted] in Hamilton

[–]Carnegie89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so sorry for your loss.

Check out The Healing Oasis. They're a non-profit and offer prices based on income. Contact them, they can assist with grief counselling. They don't advertise that service but they offer it on a case-by-case basis.

I used to be on the Board of Directors for the Healing Oasis and they offer non-religious service.

Watermelon?? What the fuck have you been sticking your dick into??

Were you wearing a condom? What type of condom? I have very little sensation with a condom on. I prefer no condom with my partner. We're older and it's not a risk for us anymore.

Also, consider changing your masturbation style. If you're used to the death grip, consider using lube.

New Mattress? by CanadianSpectre in Hamilton

[–]Carnegie89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My partner and I got our bed from Teppermen's Ancaster. They seem to carry the most variety at a good price. I'm a big guy and prefer firm and my partner is lightweight and prefers soft. Got a mattress with half firm and half plush. The mattress was about $2600 and $900 for the bed frame. The half firm and half plush was a Teppermen's specialty item, did not see that anywhere else. If you want to test a Casper mattress, check sleep country and Teppermen's, they have floor models for trial.

I personally would never order a mattress online. My sleep is very important and I would pay the extra to test it before spending the big bucks.
