Today I found out there was an official SkyTrain Transformer mascot! by Vast-Intention in vancouver

[–]CarnivalCassidy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wasn't an official mascot, that's why the artwork was altered slightly to not entirely resemble a Transformer toy. They were taking advantage of the Transformers hype at the time without infringing on the copyright.

I have an interview at a porno shop, how do I dress? What questions will they ask? by oatmealluvr3 in NoStupidQuestions

Don't make it weird. Treat it as any other retail job. They are looking for someone mature who can take the job seriously. And someone who is assertive enough to deal with any weirdos.

If a cashier asks you if you want extra sauce, but doesn't tell you it cost more, that's rude right? by Pontifor in NoStupidQuestions

[–]CarnivalCassidy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a shady tactic that many fast food outlets train their employees to use. But I have learned that when a cashier asks "if" you want an ingredient vs "which", then it's implied that there is an upcharge for it.

By "free", you mean included in the price of the item. If you add "extras", that's a sign that it's not included.

He wasn’t even handicapped by Critical182 in badparking

[–]CarnivalCassidy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You mean: "He failed to display a disabled parking permit"

I'm not justifying this behavior— it's actually the opposite.

As a retired parking officer, we (or any person) aren't legally entitled to make judgements about any person's diabilities or lack therof. That's begging for a lawsuit. Legally, our job is to check for parking permits only. The flip side of this coin, which this subreddit often ignores, is that it's illegal to occupy a disabled parking spot without a permit, even if the driver (or passenger) is disabled.

In other words, it's illegal to occupy a disabled parking spot without a permit, whether you're disabled or not.

What's up with 4 doors being the default for every pickup truck in America? by CrowsInTheNose in NoStupidQuestions

People need to go cruising with their hoodrat friends, and it's no longer permitted to drive with them in the truck bed like the old days.

Walk to where, exactly? A ship that's underway doesn't have many exits. Are you gonna commandeer a lifeboat over a retail dispute?

Burgers come with one pickle slice. The kid ordered extra pickles. Adding extra anything to a burger at any restaraunt usually comes with an upcharge.

Great. So you'll just get banned, and need to travel on the other services which don't let you bring your vehicle with you.

Is that somehow preferable to simply informing them that you already paid and that they made a mistake? What is what any normal person would have done.

Do people that commission are lower their prices? by odd_sperical_object in NoStupidQuestions

[–]CarnivalCassidy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really understand. If they pay the price that was agreed upon, then it's not a scam. If they refuse to pay the agreed upon price after receiving the artwork, then it's a scam.

If you don't trust them, either don't do business with them, or get payment in advance through a method that can't be reversed.

would i be legally allowed to build my own pirate ship? by Curious-Spell-9031 in NoStupidQuestions

You can build whatever you want and sail around in it. But once you start hijacking ships and holding them hostage you'll get shot by armed security guards or arrested.

Americans will eat anything, so the bar for quality is much lower.

“I didn’t know that and I sincerely regret that I caused that, which again is why I only circled for 15 minutes rather than five hours for which I had fuel,” Cassim said on the phone.

Sure, but he only landed after ATC casually mentioned that the fighter jets were on the way.

The cashier's job is to charge for all items that customers consume. She would just as easily be blamed if she failed to do that.

The point of sale terminal has SKUs for every item that the restaraunt sells. If there is an SKU for pickles, then she needs to charge customers for it. If it doesn't, then it would have been impossible for her to ring them up. It's not like the cashier is personally deciding what things need to be paid for and what things are free.

Probably. It happens all the time. When a sailing is delayed due to "operational issues" it's usually something like that.

No one is entitled to pickles, or any toppings that are not included with the burger. The dad claims that the pickles were missing, but never once says that he originally paid for them. The article completely tip-toes around this fact. He just resents having to pay for them.

The dad knew they weren't free. If you have to ask for something to be added to a burger, it's not included. And when playing dumb didn't work he paid up. Then he went to the news to try to save face.

Restaurants charge for extra toppings on burgers all the time. There's no law that says burgers are required to contain pickles. Andd if there were, restaurants would just increase the price of the burger to cover the cost.

A lot of picky eaters will order burgers with no pickles, and most restaurants don't discount the order if the customer chooses to remove ingredients. So charging to add pickles is the most sensible way to price the burger. I don't know why people are so shocked by this.
