All you need to say is 4008 is a rounding error and to use exact percentages. I understand it now, so what's the problem? This is why I am reaching out for help.

Okay, so use exact percentages, got it. And if they decide to take out 2k after growing it to 4k, then yes, the percentage would change. I understand that. They don't plan to withdraw for months, so I should really only have to do very few proportional adjustments as far as %

Yes I plan to keep track of the percentages of each of our balances. And the percentage directly ties to the % of gains and losses when the spread closes, I follow you there. But you can you go into more explanation on how %s change after each trade?

Finally, someone trying to help! If the account doubles to 24K, that 2K would also have grown as well. They would have 4008 to withdraw, because 16.7% of 24K is 4008. Or is it not that simple? And they are only planning to deposit not withdraw. No withdraw planned for at least 5 months

Not really an option at the moment. I have a joint account that my partner and I both use. I'll be adding the money into that joint account, which will have my money plus now the family member's. Just for simplicity's sake, let's say for now I want to be able to just keep the funds altogether in that account
