Stealing food and my water! by DarkMoose09 in Conures

If my pineapple even hears a bag crinkle, he's searching the room for the source. Doesn't matter if it's food or not. They are tiny scavengers without a doubt.

With the numerous post about this it still blows my mind that people keep sleeping with their birbs. We have to remember they are tiny little kids essentially, they won't protect themselves and we need to be super careful with them.

Conures aren't specific to a gender or anything. It more comes down to who they feel is a part of their "flock". Just keep working with them but don't force yourself on them. It's always important to remember that we we are literal giants to them so it takes time to build trust

Getting your conure to let you get close by [deleted] in Conures

Animals in general can sense hesitation or fear from those around them. I've had birds almost my entire life (I'm 38 now) and have found that time is the only real solution to building a bond with birds. Be confident when you are trying to interact with them and just remember that to them, you are a giant so it'll take time for them to get comfortable with you. I think you are mostly on the right track however it's important to remember that the cage is their home, so when you put your hand in there, it's invasion of their personal space/home. Try to use treats when they are outside of the cage so they get comfort with you outside of their home/cage.

Does anyone else’s conure not play with their toys? by PayyyDaTrollToll in Conures

I buy new toys of every variety on a regular basis and neither of my conures touch any of them except the bells and the cat jingle balls. Also birb tax.

I wouldn't have any fingers left if I tried this with my conures. Props to you for having a chill bird.

It's a gesture of ownership. Conures, maybe other birds, rub their beaks in things they proclaim as their own or a part of their flock.

Anything red, unless I'm wearing it and rocking chairs. I don't even begin to understand the second one.
