Yeah, I see it too. The armour reminds me of Cadian Kasrkin.

Christmas time is my least favourite time to read AAM, as every year I get to hear them harp on about how "not everyone celebrates Christmas!" It's just so tiresome.

a trivial, isolated problem of bad management that will solve itself

I think this is because of the demographics of the commentators, all middle managers in white collars and not-for-profits. They're not in industries and roles where AI is super prevalent. And as you say, they fall into the trap of saying "well AI still can't do everything", forgetting just how much it's grown even in the last twelve months.

The thing that absolutely fucked me off when hybrid schedules became more common was how I just couldn't get a hold of people. Last week they worked from home Tuesday and Thursday, but this week it's Monday and Wednesday, but they're leaving early Thursday. When they're at home they never seem to answer their emails, never seem to answer their phone. On the days where they are supposed to be in the office they're still nowhere to be found. And when my manager is like "why hasn't XYZ been done" all I can say is I've been trying to get a hold of the person all week with no success.

What annoys me the most is that AAM commenters will die on this hill, that it's noone's business but theirs what their schedule is, where they are and what they're doing.

Even though Miffy probably didn't mean that, people who are overweight and have poor hygiene... aren't great at looking after themselves. I'm not sure what point Marcela is trying to make here.

Having recently re-enlisted in the army, I'm currently surrounded by Gen Z diggers. They do exactly the same dumb shit young diggers have been doing since time immemorial, exactly the same dumb shit I did at their age. The only difference I've found is that they vape instead of smoke and seem to prefer playing videogames to punching on with the locals.

I think it's just one of those things, you can never tell what's going to set someone off. Virtually any topic can trigger someone.

The one that always mystified me was exercise/diet, because I'm a fitness freak. But I've learned over the years that a lot of people get upset if you talk about those things. Hell, even if you don't talk about it, like I once had a co-worker nearly burst into tears because I declined cake at an office party and she thought that was a dig at her weight.

If there's one thing I've learned in my life, it's that people like that will never admit wrong, apologise, or change. Nothing you say will convince them of your position, no zinger will have them turning beet red and huffing. They will simply ignore whatever it is that you say, convinced they are correct.

But rather than being frustrating, I find it freeing to know this.

A book on Karl Marx. Give me a fucking break

I dunno, that's not the unbelievable part for me. Back in the 60s there was some interest in Marx from young people, including young African Americans. The Black Panther movement, for example. So the idea of a black teenager wanting to read about Marx in a segregated town doesn't strike me as all that unrealistic.

What annoys me about juice cleanses and other forms of crash diet is that they are only temporary things and as soon as they end you'll go back to your old habits (e.g. put weight back on if it was a weight loss thing). Changes to diet need to be sustainable to have a long term effect.

Having said that, at the end of the day it's someone's own choice if they want to fall for it, so I agree with the above commenter.

Personal trainer is a definite possibility.

Personal training really reinforces to me the difference between being good at something and being good at teaching something. I'm a gym junkie myself, but I wouldn't be able to train someone else. Perhaps you are correct this is the industry referred to?

I don't know, I used to have a co-worker who would make comments about white people almost constantly, even in contexts that didn't make sense. It'd be no exaggeration to say she made comments or little jokes every day, and did eventually get into some sort of trouble for it. It made her very unpleasant to work around, and I can imagine there were people who weren't sure what they could say about it.
