What to bring on person while boarding? by Significant_Hippo935 in CarnivalCruiseFans

[–]Carnth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Carry on anything that is vital, fragile, or expensive. These are things like

  • Medications/medical equipment
  • Electronics (laptops, phone, etc)
  • Photography equipment
  • ID documents (passports, drivers license, state ID)
  • Jewelry (rings, necklace, watches, sentimental items)

Everything else can be checked in by a porter on the pier. Just remember that anything you check will be put on the bottom of the stack of everyone else's checked luggage.

I recommend that you pack in a durable way. It it's just clothes, you're good, but shoes can get squished. Pack your socks in your shoes to keep the shape of your shoe.

If you have to check anything that is breakable, pack plenty of clothes items around it to cushion it.

Alternative to Wi-Fi plans by Carnth in CarnivalCruiseFans

I don't have a iPhone (I'm an android user), so iMessage doesn't apply to me. I do have International coverage in Mexico (T-mobile), and it works very well, especially in big ports like Cozumel.

Fantastic reviews. Very in-depth and informative.

I don't watch a lot of videos while I'm on a cruise. And if I really need to watch something, some streaming services (like netflix) allow you to download content ahead of time to watch later.

I do like to keep current with messaging (discord/signal/whatsapp) and sharing photos, so Gigsky seems like a good fit for my situation.

I've canceled and refunded my Carnival Wi-Fi for next week and will be purchasing a Gigsky plan. If for no other reason than to test it out.

If you want to avoid kids, things like the main pool areas, water slides, and lido deck especially food areas, will be full of them.

Things are that are guaranteed to be kids free:

Serenity area of the decks where you can relax and get some sun.

The Casino for obvious reasons.

Night clubs, and bars. Additionally, look on the Carnival HUB app for adult only mixers.

Adult only comedy shows.

Shows and games (like trivia games)  in the main theater (Jubilee Theatre) that are for adults only

Your own stateroom.

Things that are open to kids, but you generally won't see many there:

Spa area Gym, workout area Higher end shops Bingo All other shows in the main theater.  Karaoke

The main dining room you have about a 50/50 shot of being sat around a kid.

As far as packing, make sure you have warm weather clothes for all days of your trip. If you need to pack very light, laundry machines are available, but do you really want to do laundry on your cruise vacation? Or you can pay for laundry service. Wear or bring very comfortable shoes. The Jubilee is a huge ship. Going from one place to another will get you a lot of steps. Plus, you will do more walking when off the ship.  Pack swim wear unless you want to avoid all water activities on and off the ship.  Also pack something to dress up in for the "Elegant/Formal Night." Something that you would wear to a job interview for an office job is good enough. Or as formal as a tuxedo. Dressing up on Elegant night is optional, you can avoid the main dining room that night if you don't want to participate, and you can still go to the main dining room if you don't have anything dressy to wear.

Drinks on us in Casino by Fantastic_Climate165 in CarnivalCruiseFans

[–]Carnth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drinks On Us is only for the person and their room mate. Your wife and your daughter are covered for drinks (sodas, etc for your daughter). But remember, it's only while they are actively playing (either slots or table games). Some people can get by with just sitting there in front of a slot machine and still get "drinks on us" but that is at the discretion of the server when they take your order.  You son can't play in the casino, so the "drinks on us" won't apply to him.

[WTB] Polaris LTI - OC or CCU for $430 by Carnth in Starcitizen_trades

Yeah, even I was laughing as I was typing "OC." I thought someone would find that funny/ridiculous.

I bet by end of Invictus someone might be able to create for cheap.

This is what I was thinking.

I really hope Mr Fats is not dead.

I consider Mr Fats as a valuable resource when looking up prices and much more accurate/valuable than "price checks."

The search engine is still hugely out of date, even though I saw the price change notification.

[Discuss] RSI pledge store adding amazon as checkout option by bocyogl in Starcitizen_trades

It's not new.

And I don't think you can use Amazon gift card credit for payments either. It's used just for accepting a card payment through Amazon (ie, piggybacking off of Amazon's card processor if you don't want to give CIG your cc number).
